He taught most all other religious leaders were wrong and that he was a spoke-
man for a literal 144,000, but you have to remember he taught a created Christ
that was to be worshipped (taught by JWs leaders till 1954): "How strange that
any should attempt to misuse and pervert these our Lord's words, to make them
support the unreasonable and unscriptural doctrine of a Trinity,--three Gods in
ONE PERSON" ("The Atonement Between God and Man--Studies in the Scriptures, Vol.
5," 1906, pp.60,75). Most others knew better than to teach that about Jesus,
let alone the year he invisibly returned.
Charles Russell taught you weren't to interpret war as a sign of the end
("Watchtower Reprints," Sept., 1884, p.661) then pretended he was onto something
after WWI broke out--that it was some kind of support for his claims, and he
resumed making bad predictions (Aug.15, 1914, Zion's Watch Tower, others).
Lock up his books? He's lucky they didn't lock him up somewhere.
