funny, but a teenage prank that would be a waste of my time.

if others do it, i can care less either way.

there are classier ways to get them.

i suggest writing a book...i'm assuming english isn't your first language from this post, so in your native language.

some of us deal with our anger in different ways, so this call to arms is unconvincing.

if someone had a talent for impersonating voices, and was familiar with the voices of the various governing body members, now that would be a kick, to start the conversation very geniune, then slip in a swear word or innuendo here and there. or something like: this is brother _______, and we found porn on your computer. will you please come to your room right now as we need to settle this. i do not care if no one will cover the phones, your attendance to this matter is manditory and will show your attitude to the gravity of the situation that you've put us in by agreiving jehovah's holy spirit.

great idea on the molestation hush money settlements billboard.

if everyone here put in a few bucks, it could be a possibility. i'm sure prime billboard real estate in brooklyn has to be in the five figures though....maybe on the way to patterson, is that still around, or the stanley theatre?

I answer the phone all day long. I work for a realestate company that also has rental property. I hear complaints all day long from tenants, I here all the sad stories about why their rent is going to be late.

I don't care. I can't do anything about their car breaking down, the owners of their apartment doesn't care about thier car braking down. All he wants is his rent, on time or you're getting a "three days to vacate" notice.

About the complaints, all I do is write down your name, number and complaint, then I call maintance, I don't know or care when they come. ...not trying to be a bitch, but calling me several times a day doesn't change a thing.

When I leave at five, I go gome. my morgage is paid, my car is running, my toilet flushes and my sink doesn't leak.

Today...I'll go back and answer the phones again. I only hear what I have to hear.

    that's it.

Just a few thoughts. I'm just speaking for myself. When I call, I'm going to try to be very respectful. My goal is just to see if they will admit to being a NGO. If they deny it, I won't argue. I might say something like, "Thank you. It's hard to believe that Jehovah's Witnesses would actually join the UN." Then if they know they are lying or find out later, they can deal with their conscience as they wish. I'm sure that they get hundreds of crazy calls every day. I don't think it will do any harm if they start to get more calls from serious people with serious questions. I'm sure most people only build up the courage to call when they are really upset. This is a chance to call when we are more calm. Some may be more aggressive. I think that's OK. It's unlikely that we will tie up their phone lines or disturb their operations, but I would be happy to see this happen if it is caused by thoughtful callers.

I don't view this as a big battle, but as a small skirmish that will probe the enemy's strengths and weaknesses. I hope we will learn from this and adapt. Some of the objections may have more weight than I currently realise. I don't think this means we shouldn't try. A lot of people think this is a bad idea. Some of these are very active on this discussion board. That's fine. I think your efforts are valuable here and I don't think you should do something you don't want to do or think is counterproductive. I also know there are a lot of people who want to do something that's more direct and would like the plan to have some organisation and strength of numbers. This campaign has a suggested time and theme and both are optional. You can participate without any further planning or debate on it's efficiency. I appreciate the feedback, even if it's negative. I will try hard to avoid doing things in a way that is counter productive and I encourage others to do the same.

Sounds like a great job you have there.

    Are you being sarcastic?

It really is a great job. I do other stuff, too. not brain surgery, but enjoyable...and I have a big desk next to a big window, and I can play on the internet.

    DT:

I respect your intentions and am quietly applauding your efforts from the sidelines. At this time, I don't think I can join in but I don't doubt that there will be some effect, even if it is not quantifiable immediately. Every little bit helps.

Perhaps I speak for others as well. Thank you for your efforts.

I don't know you, DT, obviously.

But IMO your comment shows a lot of reasonableness- a willingness to modify, or at least entertain the possibility of modifying, a plan or project based on the sincere input of others.

It's this kind of interaction that we were missing out on as Jehovah's Witnesses.

    Thanks for hearing us out.

Success to you as you continue to deprogram yourself and try to assist others to do the same.

#1 My time is more valuable than theirs and I will not exchange my time for WT time unless I am getting a damn fantastic exchange rate.

#2 I could give a crap about anyone in the org other than my family and a few friends.

#3 It won't make any difference in what they're doing and will continue doing.

#4 They don't control me anymore.

Those of you who plan to participate, I'm wishin' you the best, but it seems like a lot of people are ignorant about it... maybe it'd be best to take another week to better advertise it and get some decent participation?
