I am on 60mg Cymbalta. I was on 30 and drinking heavily at night. 5 or 6 mixed drinks a night. When my doc doubled it in an effort to curb the stress I was hiding from, the alcohol now makes me ill. If I drink too much. But I have increased my drinking alot the past 2 years.

I found that after I started taking Zoloft that I had very little tolerance for alcohol. I've always enjoyed drinking, but now after 3 or 4 beers, I feel dizzy and nauseous. If I go off the Zoloft these episodes slowly decrease until they don't happen anymore.

Before I starting taking Paxil, I rarely ever drank, maybe once a year and after I started Paxil, I started craving it like crazy, I drank constantly while on it. (Everyday) It caused other problems as well, but thats another topic.

Yep, moms, cymbalta was what did it for me. I'm off it now, careful, booze+cymbalta=screwed up liver. I stopped, and within two weeks, the thought of booze grossed me out.

My SIL is a nurse and that's what she keeps telling me. I can have maybe 2 glasses of white wine now. IF I drink alot of water too. You off Cymbalta now? It helps my nerve pain and RLS.

I put this up because I went thru hell with it for awhile, did'nt know what the hell was wrong with me, etc. It just seemed like something "coming from outside me" rather than in, if that makes sense. Fortunately, I'm experienced with meds from working in group homes, etc., and having side effects from several on my own, did some research, quit, and I was fine. So, if anyone else is going thru this, I want 'em to check it out....

Yes, I'm off. It seems to be the SSRI part of cymbalta that causes thsi, and it sounds like you are on it mostly for the Norepinephrine reuptake, for pain. Here's some info on what looks like just the latter, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norepinephrine_reuptake_inhibitor
