heathen said: they may have had that right about the false religionists and apostasy
Now these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come. 1 Corinthians 10:11
(Then they rose early one the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Exodus 32:6)
(Then Israel remained in Acacia Grove, and the people began to commit harlotry with the women of Moab. They invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. Numbers 25:1)
So...Israel showed interest in false gods and therefore were commiting harlotry...they also weren't interested in serving the true God they were content in their false worship...
O Ephraim, what shall I do to you?
O Judah, what shall I do to you?
For your faithfulness is like a morning
cloud, and like the early dew it goes away.
Therefore I have hewn them by the
prophets,
I have slain them by the words of My mouth;
And the judgements on you are like light that
goes forth.
For I desire mercy and not sacrifice,
and the knowledge of God more than
burnt offerings. Hosea 6:4-6
