First off ....Crumpet you are amazing !!!!!!! Love your story
I truly strive to erradicate all personal blunders from my conscientiousness ...but you just now reminded me of the time I trapped myself in a public building elevator .
Our Art League use to have it's gallery in an old building in town . The building had been a hotel in the early 1900's now it housed small office spaces , shops , gallery and the basement is a resturant . One evening I went to set up a display of my photo's in the gallery .I was there longer than expected and when i went to leave noticed I was the last one in the building . I took the outside elevator down to street level and found the last person out had locked me in . I only had a key to the gallery not the outside entrance of the building ! The elevator then would not go back up to the office level ! I didn't have a cell phone and was beginning to panic . The elevator has glass that looks out to the street so I am franticly trying to wave someone down , but also so embarassed for someone to know what I had done . The elevator had an emergency phone in it .....I picked it up and found it connected straight to the police station .Sheepishly I explained the situation to the operator ....she laughed and said she would contact a key holder right away . The guy that finall y came to let me out was unamused which fueled my embarrassment even more ......thanks for reminding me .
