Very sorry to hear this BB. Don't minimize your feelings of a "last link to your dad."
You don't have to get overly grieved about an uber elder, but allow yourself to think
about your dad and your family and what good thoughts you can bring up.

There is a common feeling when another (or worse, the last) of the older generation
passes that we have moved one ladder rung closer to death. It doesn't have to be
all morbid thoughts, though. Think good about that generation and appreciate
anything good that you had.

I'm really sorry to hear that BB. Yes, even though they can be 'superfine' Christians, I think you're doing the right thing by going to see him before he passes on.

Thats by no means good news at all. What is too bad is the way he treated your family especially your dad. But even though he is dying you can show to him that you are better then him anyday.

I know he is family and you may not want to really go. My recommendation is this, you may regret no going. And you can prove to yourself that your a better christian by letting by gones be bygones. Despite his treatment of your family.

It saddens me so when families are torn apart on account of a stupid religion. All the worlds woes have been over politics and religion.

Go with you mom for moral support. I am sorry to hear he is dying as no one deserves to die.

Maybe something positive can result from this. You never know.
