This is exactly what I was saying, instead of just saying it like it is there is a fake politeness to it. You know why Northerners hate living in the south? Because they know that NO ONE is ever that polite with out some hidden agenda. This makes most southerners worst and harder to deal with. You know what I always hear southern belles say? "I'll just smile in her face to piss her off more". You know what I hear most Northern non southern women say? "I'm going to beat her ass and tell her like it is". I respect that ten times more then the smile in your face crap. I grew up in a small town where there was a débutante school (these are the ones actually trying to be Scarlett O'Hare), so it has nothing to do with my age. Also the majority of my friends I grew up with were 5th and 6th generation in the south. I heard plenty of stories from Grandpa's about how great southern women are.....it hasn't changed.
You are very cynical. First of all politness is equal to good manners. Good manners make life a lot more pleasant for everyone. And as far as it being fake, that's your opinion and sounds like you have grown up in a very cynical family with a definite cranky streak.
It depends on where you live in the south about the second highlighted remark of yours. But from my experience, a girl is much more likely to be an a$$ beater if she's from certain parts of the south, than say the midwestern north. You don't mess around with a southern girl. And you don't try movin' in on her man, because let me tell you, when it comes to our men or our kids, we ain't afraid a nothin'. Southern women aren't anymore great than other women, they just tend to be more feminine and men like that.
I tend to be one of the more outspoken women on JWD. I'm as southern as you can get. I can and will tell you off, but I don't have to be a trash mouth to do it and I will preserve some of your dignity in the process. It might be important to me to make a point to you, but I won't try to destroy you while making that point.
