The guiding star over Jesus was controlled by Satan?

Well, that's what my Elder told me. He said that Satan was directing the Magi to find Jesus so they might
report back to Herod who wanted Jesus killed. Has anyone else heard this? I find it disgusting for them to
make such a horrible statement like that.

They even teach this shit to little children:

    Chapter32page168

To fulfill God’s will for him on earth, Jesus had to grow up and become a perfect, full-grown man. Satan, however, tried to kill Jesus before that could happen. The attempts to kill Jesus when he was a child and the ways Jehovah protected him make an exciting story. Would you like to hear it?—

A short time after Jesus is born, Satan causes what appears to be a star to shine in the sky in the East. Men called astrologers, who study the stars, follow the star hundreds of miles to Jerusalem. There they ask where the one to be king of the Jews is to be born. When men who know what the Bible says about this are asked, they answer: "In Bethlehem."—Matthew 2:1-6.

This is included in the Forward of the LearnFromtheGreatTeacher :

The Bible encourages parents to work hard to impress right principles on the minds of their children. As children grow older, however, parents often find it difficult to talk with them about things that matter the most. This book, LearnFromtheGreatTeacher, is designed to help prevent such a situation from developing. It will provide you and your children with spiritual material to read together. But more than that, it should stimulate conversation between young ones and those who read this book with them.

You will notice that the book calls for a response on the part of children. Many well-placed questions are provided in the printed material. When you come to these, you will see a dash (—). This is a reminder to pause and encourage the child to express himself. Children like to be involved. Without that involvement, a child will quickly lose interest.

Hmm... Why didn't Satan just whisper the exact location into Herod's ear in a dream or something instead? Seems more effective. But who am I to come up with better ideas.

"He said that Satan was directing the Magi to find Jesus so they might report back to Herod who wanted Jesus killed." Yeah, my husband told me that around Christmas. Obviously, they DID find him. So what happened? Why didn't it work out? Hubby couldn't tell me. Good question, Awakened07.

I couldn't believe that when I read it either !!!

...and yet, the NWT describes it as "His Star" meaning Jesus' Star !

Apparently, after this initial (lame) attempt at killing Jesus as a child, Satan just gave up. At any rate, if Satan did try to kill Jesus again in the following twenty-something years, those attempts were even lamer, and so didn't "make for exciting enough stories" to be written down...

Yes... it's true. And when the 'wise men' (who were also astrologers - if I recall correctly) gave the parents of Jesus their gifts - the parents handed them back and said, "No thanks - we don't celebrate Christmas..."

The wise men were so impressed that they immediately asked for a bible study with the parents.

This was also the worlds 'longest bible study' - as they had to wait for Jesus to become a man - and become baptized - before they could get baptized.

Of course... this isn't documented in the bible - but using our 'powers of discernment' we are able to reason this out (aka - make it up)

    Regards,

    (Sorry - I couldn't resist)
