What we need, more than anything else, is some sort of legal challenge that would force the Society to let go of congregations.

This sick religion is being forced to make choices between being a business and being a religion. In the end, money always wins:

hence, reduced literature and magazines, etc. It's going to be interesting to watch.

In particular, I would examine the current trend to hold district assemblies in circuit assembly halls. This has got to be another economic

compromise as these halls were intended for circuits, not district crowds.

Hopefully, the same thing will happen to the Watchtower Society. I would like nothing more than to see the numbers go down from just under 7 million at peak for 2007 to well short of 2 million for 2008, with zero left in 2009.

WTWizard, i like the way you think! if one is going to hope, why not hope big!

it will likely take longer than 2 years but with the cash flow getting choked..... i think the analogy of the soviet union's decline and demise is spot on!

Whe I first read the title of this thread "fastest growing religion" I automatically assumed "The Nation of Islam".

So when I realized it was about you know what I thought "are you kidding"? The Witnesses encompass point 1 of 1 percent. Hardly a number to get excited about. Now Islam I am concerned about. Not so mcuh the local mosque, but the extremists that want to kill every cracker on the planet. That does worry me.

However given the topic IS about the Witnesses, it is easy to eliminate a cult like this with education like we have here. If you eliminate anyone converting to a JW, in about 60 years, most of the individuals in the society will no longer exist and the society will then be just a blip in the history books.

    Remember everyone- - - -education.

These kind of statistics always remind me of that annual WT study wherein the congo parsed the annual worldwide report. Some wiild-eyed publisher would inevitably raise his/her hand and cite the fact that Outer Slobovia and Western Samolia had "new peaks" and were up 36.9% last year. Everyone nodded their heads, except for those few perceptive souls who scanned the fine print to discover the real story: The countries in question, with populations around 12 million, had a total of 9 publishers, up from 7 the year before.

They are like a multinational that adjusts and switches production towherever it's cheapest and most sustainable. They use psychology of what currently damages them to try and adapt 'new light' which is why they sucked all of us in in spite of their history being charred.

How many of us would have commited if we knew all the facts?

Their basic self protect mechanism is to get you to question your current belief, upstage it with a new model they have and get you to join up to their veterans club for life under punishment by the big fat controller of the cosmos! Each person is a potential clone to their industry! No person is of individual value! Everyone is a potential slave to their cotton fields of magazines!

Everyone is disposable! That is the foundation of their faith!

On that site, there is an "elders-only" login section, where the elders can request literature shipments, change standing magazine orders, enter field service reports, etc.

I wonder how well that's working cause my info keeps getting all screwed up...

Also, do any elders on here have access to that so they can screw everything up? lol

The Society has always loved the numbers game just like all corporations that want to build investor confidence.Fudge the numbers to look better. When other religions, like Catholicism, mention how numerous they are the WT just shrugs it off and has some sort of snarky comment. But whenever the C.O. visits the congregations he goes over the statistics by fractions ! How hypocritical ! Plus, a larger religion with a smaller percentage growth still produces far more members. For instance, the Catholic Church has over One BILLION members ! So an increase of only .5% would still be FIFTY MILLION ! This is significant because the Society uses increase as evidence of God's blessing so what does that say about how God feels about Catholicism whom the Society has no qualms about repeatedly bashing ? The WT can't have it both ways but it sure does try.

Another Great post Met. It sounds logical, and well thought out. Let's hope it happens.

That's a great analogy. I often wonder why the Watchtower pushes young people to pioneer so much, even going so far as to imply that non-pioneers will not make it through Armageddon. Don't they understand that it is those evil full-time jobs that support those young pioneers? I know a pioneer couple who both work part time. They are able to live on their own because her dad, a business owner, supports them. Too often, you see kids staying at home until they're 30, draining their parent's resources that should be going to a retirement account, while the parents work full-time jobs.

What does the Society think will happen when all the people working full-time retire or die-off? Where will all the donations come from? Like the Soviet Union, the Watchtower Society is alienating their productive members, trying to force everyone to be poor. I think Brooklyn knows this, that's why they're scaling back their operations now. I noticed they're moving more and more toward an internet-based literature distribution system. Who knows, maybe they'll start selling computers with a software lock that only allows Watchtower-affiliated websites to be accessed.

    Is this something new?
