Whilst having very strong feminist views and being disgusted at the concept of the society being so against women seeking supplemental income, I think there is a bigger picture to consider.
It has been covered a little but to reiterate, it is about keeping not only women small, uneducated, and financially dependent it is also about keeping families in the same position without lifes little luxuries. Its about keeping families in lower income brackets so they have little means to progress and better themselves. Ultimately its about self esteem and ensuring that families, men, women live and children grow up without aspirations that do not involve the WTS.
Even the 'counsel' regarding those that own businesses in the witnesses is transparent. The counsel advocates keeping things small instead of adding and or creating wealth. Counsel condemning women going off to work is not a far cry away from this already even if the article doesnt exist.
When you look at the way the organisation controls families you see it for what it really is.
