Or is it another control BS thing. Also anyone figure out why they are suddenly calling themselves Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses? They seem to be really emphasizing they are the CHRISTIAN congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses a lot recently.
So what is up with the mandatory scriptures in the study watchtower.

Scriptures to read? Yes I see it as a control thing..it is an admission that the quality of the WT study conductors is pretty poor. So they have to tell them exactly what to do and how to it. There was the BOE letter last year that told them how to conduct a W/tower study..but they still have not been doing it properly.

It is an attempt to become a BIBLE STUDY and not a WT Study and thus appear less cultish

Repeat after me, "I will read the appropriate scriptures. I will do what I am told. I will suspend all personal effort at reading the Bible. I will serve you as if you were Christ. I am a Jehovah's Witness and I have no personal volition." W.Once

Since this involves the WT, and by extension lawyers are involved, one of the corporations they set up is called the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. They could be laying the groundwork for that corporation to be a holding company for the congregations, and it would be liable for lawsuits arising from actions of elders and members. This could protect the massive wealth and assets of the 'Tower from these settlements in the future.
This is a speculative guess. We know something is afoot in the org, and they are too secretive to tell the truth about why they are doing things. They prefer to mask it in garbled theocratic instruction.

When I was in, it was up to the conductor to read the scriptures as time permitted. That way, they could make up for running behind by reading fewer scriptures, or if comments are few and short, they can read extras to make up that time.
Now, it is provided for them which scriptures that Gestapo wants read, and they WILL be read. No other scriptures are to be read, except the snippets that appear in the article. This effectively takes it out of context, as WT Comments often reveals by adding all the scriptures in context and then blows the lid off the scam. That is no longer possible, since Gestapo doesn't want those extra scriptures read any more.

I beleive that the reason for calling themselves the "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's WItnesses" has to do with many people thinking JWs are not Christian. Of course JWs are as Christian as those who attend main stream "Christian" religions. The difference is that JWs put emphasis on Jehovah and not Jesus and don't subscribe to the idea that Jesus was God in the flesh.

Without a doubt it is a control thing.
There is nothing wrong with your Watchtower Study.
Do not attempt to adjust the picture.
We are controlling the transmission.
We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We will control the scriptures you look up and read.
We can make the most ridiculous teachings sound reasonable.
For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear.
We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your Watchtower Study.
