Hackabee's plan of doing away with the IRS would be a drop in the bucket. The average family pays a few thousand in taxes per year, but with healthcare cost, the mortgage crisis, ect. it would barely touch the surface of most family's debt. Atleast Hilary and Obama would spend some of our tax money here at home instead of financing a country overseas. The government should feel some accountability toward the people and how they use use our tax dollars. The economy cannot be measured by the success of corporations when the average citizen cannot afford to have some of the basic necessities of life (an education and medical care). It is time to start healing things at home, or we won't have to worry about immigration because nobody will want to live here. Sorry, but the "American Dream" is getting to be out-of-reach for a large percentage of Americans.

Are you actually serious? GWB has spent us into a probable recession. Nooooo, he hasn't taxed us, but our children certainly will be. Wake up and look at the spending of Republicans in our lifetime. You have been bamboozled by soundbites.
Not defending GWB at all. The republicans are almost as bad as the democrats when it comes to taxing and spending. The fair tax is not a quick fix for our economic woes since they have been built up over several decades. However it is the start on the road of economic prosperity since it encourages investment and the movement of corporations back to the USA (corporate income tax is also eliminated). Also it takes a lot of power out of the hands of politicians and lobbyists and puts it back where it belongs, which is with the people who buy things.

Fairmind, you are drinking the Kool Aid that the corporations have been dispensing to GWB and his bunch.
A "Fair Tax" would weigh much more heavily on the middle and lower classes, as the RATIO of tax to income would be much higher to them.
Wake up. Who is buying what corporations make and sell? The rich? Their purchases of the products corporations produce is infinitesimal compared to what the middle class consumer.
Corporations have moved overseas to use workers who can be paid pennies per hour; if you think anything else you are hopeless.
And they will not move back because goods are taxed more instead of incomes. -

I don't think companies are leaving because their tax burden is so heavy. Heck all they need is a Cayman Islands address to skip that. They moved because of pure greed. The free ride to use slave labor to make their goods, and sell them to us at exorbitant prices. The longer this goes on, the less likely anyone here will be able to afford them.

It may be that yes she is sliding in popularity within the party, I do believe her political policies are heartfelt and progressive in a very good way
but I think the she's fighting for more the just the presidency but also she is fighting for as a spokesperson for the womans rights movement and this impart is a extra weight
on her shoulders something the other candidates obviously do not have to carry.

I agree that, regardless of her desire, she does represent the womens' rights movement. When I heard Obama speak at the national convention shortly after he was elected Senator (just a few years ago, btw), I told my workmates the next day that he would be the first black president of the US. Interestingly, the most vocal person to disagree with me was a black male attorney. He asked me why I thought Obama would be elected before Hillary. I told him that I thought presidential politics would mimic the equal rights movement.
This is simplifying the matter greatly, but with the advent of equal rights, black men came into corporate america and identified with white men; they did not generally assist white women, who were there social counterparts. In short, men tend to side with men of whatever color over a woman.
I told the attorney whith whom I was speaking that I thought blacks would abandon Hillary, the wife of the 'first black president' (Bill) and a life-long civil rights activist, and would vote race, and that white men would side with a male candidate of ANY color over a female candidate. I said that white women would not be enough to get Hillary the presidency. Additionally, I opined, and he agreed with me on this point, that American wiould respond to an "orator." It's McDonald's politics: quick, easy and empty. However, he vehemently disagreed with me that a black man would be elected before a white woman, but that is how it seems to be playing. BTW, last Thursday, Obama held a telephone conference with some members of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association. He placed Roberts on the V.P. short list; it appears Roberts' is holding his endorsement hostage for a seat at the table.
After winning the support of close to half the Democratic party, I suspect Hillary will be sidelined completely. America has already given its opinion of Roberts, but I don't think that will matter much. The positive side of her running is that America's response to her campaign will be studied. Valid questions are being raised and discussed as to how we view and treat female candidates versus male candidates.

IMO, Hillary is nothing short of a socialist (i.e. communist), I don't hate her perse, but i do hate he brand of politics. She isn't experienced enought to be president. Miedical care, well then get a job and get some or get an additional job and pay for it. It isn't my responsibility to pay taxes so some one can get medical care get it yourself, I did. and you can too.
