OnTheWayOut: If you were telling the truth in your profile, then it's quite clear you are NOT a Witness in good standing. And it's obvious that you haven't been to meeting for a long time or you just sleep through them. In New Zealand we had a talk by a member of the GB that went nationwide and he quite catagorically stated that the preaching work is primarily for us, ask any New Zealand Witness, I'm sure they were listening.

I don't think I'll be bothered with this site, there must be a better one somewhere else.

and yet... you are still here.

Be careful: You might just trip and shatter your fundamentalism.

NEMAIL has some interesting things to say:

I know through study that the society used to say that but now say it's an "unaswered question". (wt May 15 2005) What do you all think?

I think if you hang around long enough, the Society will come up with another new answer (e.g., organ transplants, blood fractions, "this generation", various End fo the World proclamations). Having been born (1960) and raised in the organization, I may have seen more of this than you have.

this universe needs to be populated

That's an interesting thought. I can't confirm nor deny it, the Society certainly has no clear position on it, the Bible doesn't address it. I wonder why you think this universe needs to be populated (presumably by humans)?

BE married in the new system, not will she GET married

And yet the Biblical response is that the resurrected "neither marry nor are given in marriage" if memory serves. That doesn't seem to give a lot of wiggle room, regardless of the question asked - the answer seems clear.

someone gets disfellowshipped they must have done something wrong that they and they are NOT sorry.

Pardon me, but that view seems just a little naive to me, I guess. But then having seen the way rules get twisted and used to the best advantage possible by those leading the organization, perhaps I have a different perspective.

Welcome to the Board, I hope you hand around.

Nemail, if you sincerely believe that your thoughts and reasoning on the topic are true and logical, why not raise them with your Presiding Overseer and see what happens to your good standing in the congregation?

If deep in your heart you accept that the Faithful and Discreet Slave is God's channel, shouldn't you simply accept their current views on matters regardless how you feel? Hasn't the Society recently disapproved independent study?

Just like WTS literature, you create a "straw man" to attack and feel better about your own acceptance of
beliefs. Please- forget about OnTheWayOut. I have nothing to do with your faith. You can ignore my
arguments. No harm to me. But to just throw out insults at people who doubt WTS- that's what they do.
It offers no hope of ever considering what the real truth is.

Examine your faith without the attitude. You already got brave enough to hang around here more than
a day, so you are already able to think for yourself and defy the training you were given to get away from
sites like this. I wish you well.

"A witness in good standing" is a baptized JW that is not on reproof and is not disfellowshipped. I have
committed no sins according to the Bible. I can just as easily claim that you don't do your personal study
because you don't know the facts about what WTS believes. BUT WHAT GOOD IS THE MUD-SLINGING?

OnTheWayOut: You are NOT a brother in good standing, you can't pull the wool over my eyes. A brother in good standing is active. So if you are indeed an active Witness, either you are conning the brothers and sisters or you're conning the people in here. You can't be in good standing and saying the things that you are. You forget, I can read everything that you've written on this site. There is nothing brave about being here, there is nothing written here that can be backed up to the degree that it would begin to affect me. For example, there is someone here who said that the society is a greedy organization who only sell literature to make a profit. The society haven't even been charging money for literature for well over a decade now. How can anyone take these views seriously. I know exactly what the WTS says on the subjects I brought up. The used to say the there will be no marriage for resurrected ones, but now they say it's an unanswered question. They say we MAY populate the universe but because the bible doesn't say so they can't say for certain either way. I have been "searching into the deeper things", clearly to deep for most of you. You say you have committed no sin according to the bible: are you sure? I suggest you do more research yourself. I tnink the society don't use the internet because it would be hijacked by apostates like in here. Jesus command was to "GO" and make disciples, in other words make an effort, take the initiative. What are you "going" and making disciples? Nothing I reckon.

Frequent fader miles: I have had this debate with elders before, and not had the reaction many of you say you've had. Maybe they are more relaxed here.

Voideater: You are so right, the society and the bible do not have a position on populating the universe. But I think very long term and can't envision earth being all there is for us. The reason I asked was in the hope of another Witness having a view, being able to reason on it by the bible, WTS publications or just logic. I have done lots and lots of research on the subject, both from the society and my years of studying astronomy, so I wondered if any other Witness had anything I hadn't seen or heard before.

Inkling: There is absolutely nothing here at all that could "trip" me and "shatter" my beliefs. People here have said that I would be surprised at how much they know but as yet haven't said anything that demonstrates that.

still_in74: Thank you for your post. I understand that alot of people have been hurt and believe it or not I do have a great deal of sympathy for the genuine ones. Sadly it has become very evident that a lot here are jumping on the bandwagon and have a hidden agenda. That is the reason I have stayed around, to defend the society in my own small way against the unjustified attacks that have been going on.

I have actually found a proper (though not official) JW site, and I can have a serious, sensible discussion there so this will be my last post. I may send a private message to you mr majestic, I found you a good person to discuss things with.

After Jesus gave the command to "go" and "make disciples", he said he would be with them "all the days until the conclusion of the system of things" Matthew 28:18-20. So, who is preaching the "good news of the kingdom...in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations"? Matthew 24:14. JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES!

And soon the end will come!

I will leave you all to get on with your forum.

    Ciao.

Hi nemail. This was a very interesting thread to read. If you are still here I will make a suggestion that you research the reasons why the WTS works on a donation arrangement. You might be surprised at what you find.

My theory has always been that the scriptures referring to that issue apply mainly to people who have been married multiple times (either through divorce or death of a spouse). Obviously, it would be wrong to take all of them as spouse, so maybe it means that you should remain unmarried, or marry someone completely new? Who knows, I have recently come to adopt a policy that there are some things we just won't know until He decides it it is time, and that it is futile to try and speculate too hard. I am a former JW by the way, I was never baptized but was raised with the religion since I was born.

I used to worry about that too when I was a horny little j-dub teenager. what site do you guys think he's talking about? I used to read dang's old site just for laughs, i especially enjoyed when this old grandmother posted, can't remember her name. it was a star trek themed site.
