I don't like the word apostate.......because it simply is not the case in so many cases. I think the term 'Truthseeker' would be better and quite annoying to JWs who think they are!

How about something like "Delta Force" ... it's a bit more intimidating don't you think?
Yes, Truthseekers is better than Apostate - much more positive (why go with their labels) except it sounds like something the society would use language wise.
Why have a label at all though? Why not just descibe ourselves as normal human beings which is what we are! (what we really are which is 'ex mind-control cult' members is too scary for people who don't understand - I know it scared one person that I told about it!)

I have an email named Truthseeker! It is for the Un site if I ever get it up and running When I left the JW's years ago I was going through a christian bookstore, and there was a basket filled with pins that had names and definitions. I bought the little pin with my name and the definition was TruthseekerHey wasn't that the name of a convention a few years back?

I like Truthseekers, too. And I also like God's Children.
When you think about it though, any lable immediately restricts you, in the minds of others, to whatever that label means to them. This is the very reason that in the Tao Te Ching, the statement is made that "the God you can name is not the living God."
The term Jehovah has a very specific set of characteristics in description of who and what Jehovah is - and is not. It's a limitation, and a limited God is not God at all. So in that vein, I don't care for names at all.
And another aspect of this is that the term apostate has evolved with the witnesses over the years into a very pointed form of pejorative. It is pronounced with a certain sneer in the voice. JWs pronounce the term apostate in the same spirit as others would pronounce son of a bitch, bastard, asshole, or pedophile. Apostate is a curse-word to JWs, so it wouldn't matter what we called ourselves, the JWs would never, ever use it.
At the same time, I don't and won't go through life being nothing more than an "ex" anything. It's way too demeaning. Besides, being an exJW just means that you're still a JW of a particular kind. Who wants that.

I embrace whatever pejorative name anyone chooses to slap on me. "Apostate'? Kewl, I AM the most disgusting, debauched, filthy apostate that person can conjure in their fevered brain. Glad to be of service!
Labels divide, and compartmentalize, and dehumanize. If I demystify the labeling process by laughing at it, and embracing whatever label scares the other most, I strip them of the power to control, and, a nice side bonus, terrify the labeller in the process.
Call me apostate! I LOVE it! It means I am doing my job, and someone is running scared.

Labels/classes are loved by JWs...so I think it is well to fight back with one! HaHa! Truthseeker seems to have some appeal here...so that will be it for me! There should be no doubt that it is wholly appropriate. Maybe JWs started out as 'Truthseekers' but now this title belongs solely to XJWs.
