When we lived in Cleveland, we came to Florida for a vacation and visited some friends. We went to the meeting with them. It was kind of neat to see how people lived and went to meetings in Florida.

Nope, when I take time off from work, I also want time off from boasting sessions and field circus. Now, I am on permanent vacation from boasting sessions and field circus. Even when I have to work.

I have been in Kingdom Halls across the U.S.A. and a little bit of Canada. I have not
been in field circus in most of them. The wife still wants to meet new JW's wherever
    we go.

We have "friends" in Hawaii and Vancouver and Seattle and Miami and Key West and
Charlotte and Houston and San Diego and ............................................. .

    actually........... yes!!

now it seems so lame ( forgive me, children ) but back when it was happening it was actually pretty cool.....

we did get invititations to meals ..... but as a family of 6 not a whole lot of interest in putting us up

in NZ, we attended memorial at a KH with a double congregation, so we had to scram out of the hall as soon as it ended, but an elder and his wife ( pops and daisy) invited us to their house for a get-together.... we met some of the coolest people..... maori, tongan, rorotongans, samoans..... the elder had a framed certificate showing his g'father had been granted the title MBE ( member of the british empire.... motto: for god and empire!)

when we left, my hub and i were both VERY surprised when the brothers kissed me on the mouth to say goodbye and downright GOBSMACKED when they kissed him on the mouth!! oh well, when in rome......

Yes, my ex and I did it all the time because we were very spiritual people! Even when we were camping we'd shower, I'd shave, and we'd change into our meeting clothes in our tent. We'd emerge from our tent looking resplendent, with me in my suit armed with my service bag, and my spouse in her flowery dress and high heels. After the meeting we'd go out for lunch, and leave a couple of watchtower and awake magazines as a tip. It also allowed us to count our time!

I don't remember ever going to meetings while on vacation as a kid with my JW parents...

but I know I didn't when I was out on my own and traveling. Packing meeting clothes and planning on dressing up a couple of times that week seemed to go against the whole idea of vacation to me.

The only time I went to halls in other towns was when some of us guys purposely went there to scope the scenery, if you get my drift

Yes, we would visit other halls and went out in FS at a few of them. One hall we visited outside White River Junction Vermont was so COLD. We sat through 2 dead meetings, and then arrangements were being made for service. The wife and I looked at each other and decided to avoid doing RVs with 3 80 something COLD Yankees. A morgue had more life than that hall. We visited a KH outside Orlando and there were no arrangements for FS, everyone either joined Elder Prick at the Burger King restaurant, or just went home. So much for saving souls....

I went to meetings to check out women primarily. I was young and the locals were, ahem, kind of depressing.
