Well this is just great. I go to the B.S. and right after the BS Overseer sits right beside me and starts small talking....

Great! I knew what was coming. So now I am actually going out in "service" this Saturday!

You know, this wouldnt have happened if I didnt drink so much, you see the only way I can stomach the Revelation study is to down a huge Rye & Ginger 30 minutes before hand. Then I actually dont get sick over what I read, I kind of enjoy it! Well this is what I get for going....

Man I hope the weather is bad on Saturday so I can bail!

I am sure you will all be thinking of me this Saturday morning!!!!!!!!

Me too! But I have been really unwell recently so I told him I can't do it. He is going to ask me again next week to see if I feel up to it though.

They come here every freaking year. I resent it because elders still make me feel like a naughty 10 year old kid. Last year I told them that if I hadn't been born into it, I would have never been a member. I'm hoping they took the hint. I have to be nice to them, or word will get back to my mother that I'm "apostate" and they will pressure her to cut ties with me.

They still have a little control when they still have your Mom, even after you get out.

Believe me, the people you will be calling on are probably no more happy about you being in service Saturday than you are!

can't you just say you already had plans. You're meeting a "study". I mean really sure you can lie - it's theocratic warfare after all.

Just dont go, nobody makes you agree to this, we have free choice. This is a perfect opportunity to make your stand. Dont go.

    Hiya all,

well I wish I could fake sick or pull out some other excuse. And yes, they do make you feel like a little kid, that has always annoyed me. As if you are "immature" because you arent spiritually strong. Where does anyone get coming off like that?
I need to grow some I guess.... I just am not ready to rock the boat yet. I am not ready to completely crush my wife with the full impact of my feelings. I need to get her more prepared.

I am NOT happy about this Saturday. Perhaps I should tell him I have started to by "cash for Life" every week and thoroughly enjoy mild cigars while I go for long drives in the country. Do you think if I shared that little snippet he would invite me next week?

You look a little pale and feverish to me!

This is why I don't attend any of the boasting sessions. Once I show up, next thing I know they are telling me that I will be at the next one (I have had that happen to me, even though I never show up for the next one). Or, they will tell me that I will be out in field circus. Again, not showing up is the best excuse for that. Still, they will continue trying to pull it off.

It is high time to learn to do your own thinking (and that goes for all of us). One source is the very one that the early Christians were afraid so much of. I suggest reading books by Socrates and Aristotle for starters, and works based on these. And don't dismiss that "secret society" letter or invitation so quickly (I do, however, recommend researching both sides before joining). Go back to college. Research something where there is a lot of heated debate, and look thoroughly at both sides. All that will help you think on your own. And once you do that, you will find it much easier to simply blow off the meeting or not show up for field circus after a coerced promise to go out.
