It depends on how long you studied and how much effort and time they put into you as to how apostate they consider you.
My sympathies to you.

According to the dictionary, an apostate is simply someone who has abandoned a religion. This could be you, me or anybody else, in fact it describes many JWs today because a lot of them used to follow a different system of beliefs before they converted to JWism.
The trouble with the WTBTS is that they have seemingly adopted this word and have given it a new meaning. If you are labelled an apostate by the WTBTS today then you not really viewed as just somebody who has simply left their org but you are viewed in a much more negative way than that.
You are viewed as perhaps somebody who has turned against them, who actively campaigns against them and has maybe turned 'evil' in a kind of sense. You are to be avoided at all costs, are to be totally shunned.
To me this is a method that the WTBTS uses to demonise people who simply choose not to attend JW meetings anymore and who have chosen another path in life. It is further evidence of the Org tying to manipulate your thinking faculties and hence keeping you in line with the rest of the R&F.
Just my opinion.

Avoid the hall! Why should you have to endure the nastiness of the mob? Life is short, please enjoy it.

I like to imagine running up to someone like that, who is snubbing me, and giving her a big smooch and then standing around talking and laughing with her grinding her teeth, and my hand on her arm...give her a big friendly squeeze every now and then. Ask about every single person at the KH and all their kids and cousins until she fakes a reason to leave or has the balls to say how she really feels, then laugh as she walks away. Wouldn't that be fun. But the simplest answer is the best - "couldn't buy it. Sorry, just not that ignorant."

Ask them if they mean the Biblical, the dictionary or the JW defintion of apostate.
It sounds like you have heard this 2nd hand - not many JW's have enought balls to front this up to your face - more likely to be a victim of an anonymous whispering campaign...

The word apostate does not appear in the New Testament, but apostasy does. Paul was accused of apostasy.
(Acts 21:20-21) . . .After hearing this they began to glorify God, and they said to him: "You behold, brother, how many thousands of believers there are among the Jews; and they are all zealous for the Law. 21 But they have heard it rumored about you that you have been teaching all the Jews among the nations an apostasy from Moses, telling them neither to circumcise their children nor to walk in the [solemn] customs. . .
How can I be an apostate when I wasn't stupid enough to join in the first place?
funny, that's essentially what the jews called jesus before they killed him.
Those are great come backs.
