You folks in the States have still are not as bad off as to us Canadians were paying on average about $4.80 pr. gal. here and it will be going up to

England is about the size of Alabama. England is friendly to pedestrians and cyclists. People who have never visited America have no idea how vast it is here or how far away everything is.

And please, tell us how your Canadian dollar translates into American dollars. You forgot that part.

I am definitely getting a hybrid next year, the issue is it going to have a huge trickle down affect. I am honestly thinking of driving to the Metro at least three times a week if this continues. Now I commute about 9 miles one way and 18 miles round trip. But I have cut down considerably on hanging out and driving long distances. We are going to have to come up with an alternative fuel source, it's that simple, but until such time, we are going to suffer.

I know the feeling, my Hubby has a Ford ton dually.... and with the price of diesel fuel at over $4.50 a gallon here, it costs him around $150 to fill it up.

I have a small Olds, that he is constantly borrowing... it's kinda getting on my nerves...

Gas is expensive here. 1.20 $ a litre, and people didn't change thier driving habits. They still rush to the next red lifht or stop sign, and don't coast, and leave fast, cause they have to be in front.

People drive bad in Quebec, and don't respect the speed limit. I blame the cops that aren't strict enough.

Gordo, California - $5.20 a gallon for regular - posted today!!!

California is getting hit really bad but I believe NJ was sitting at the lowest today. We filled up on Thursday to avoid any weekend increases but it's sitting at $3.64 right now - I heard some places already at $3.82. It's not just a matter of people curbing their behaviour since I don't know too many who don't - the higher price will hit your supermarket shelves shortly because the cost of transporting food to the store will have doubled. Although the USA has reduced it's consumption pretty dramatically, which one naturally assumes leads to a surplus which would hold prices, globally other places like China and India have substantially increased their oil usage, so the price still goes up. Then put the falling American dollar into the equation and it aint' pretty - North America is not England - it is much larger and different geographically so comparison can't be made on the same level. sammieswife.

Europeans figured out the fuel efficient little cars a looonng time ago too. Our strip mall style suburbs have had so much negative impact on our lifestyle it's amazing. If only the city/traffic planners of yesteryear had known.
