How is "cause and effect" at play when we are interfacing the physical with the metaphysical? The relationship between the metaphysical and the physical is at the heart of the matter. The human psychie is a strange and wonderous thing! carmel

I'm wired the same. All you guys are wired different.

When I was in college I was just plain wired, most of the time.

I read an article in "Scientific American" years ago, research was done on those that see ghosts, feel the presence of god and the like. There's a spot on the brain that makes persons see things, hear things, feel a spiritual presence. They placed some sort of electrical impulse on the spot of the persons involved in the study, they saw Ghosts, heard God and other things.

Since then, I've always thought people that believe so much in Jesus and the like have more stimulations in these areas of the brain. I've went on Ghost hunts, prayed, done all that can be expected and yet nothing. Took LSD and mushrooms and still no hallucinations. When I hear believers talk, lose their rationality, I think they sound crazy. But I sound crazy to them... my cousin see things, hears Satan; he has schizophrenia. Comes from his father's side that thankfully I'm not genetically related to.

This condition has several symptoms, Behavior disorders, hallucinations, disillusions, and paranoia. Like all conditions, there's varying degrees of symptoms, all the way from downs syndrome to epilepsy. Maybe some of our friends here on this site, that are so certain that Jesus is with them, moving them in spirit, has more stimulus in this area of the brain. But that can be dangerous, look at all believers, like Muslims that fly planes into buildings. It's interesting though I'm glad I don't suffer the disorder.

    Thanks for that info Dawg.

Reading that I can't help but think of people that kill because god told them to, including their own children.

The explanation you gave is the only explanation that really makes sense to me. Of course there are varying degrees of belief, some I think believe just because they want to believe. I'm fairly certain the spot mentioned in that article is really getting pushed on hard in Vinny's head, along with the spot that turns a person into an arrogant a-hole.

I suggest some shock therapy experiments. Anyone want to nominate someone?
