Good point, Thirdson. The present 'ungodly generation' will stretch on indefinitely....and the WTS has been rescued by the dictionary...as if this was not available earlier. It has used such prophetic statements for growth. It certainly worked with '75. However, now the WTS appears lame and the followers uninspired in every sense of the word.

    Hello Pureheart,

please dissect this one for me.

Harder than one would think in that the whole issue suggests a perfect cameo of WTS theological dissonance in action.

I have no doubt that this QFR developed from an attempt to appease both Jaracz whose preference is for a chronological manipulation to keep the old views intact, with the more progressive PR motivated Legal, who wish to 'get out of the chronology game' as one of them put it to me recently.

As such neither camp can be intellectually satisfied by the explanation above, very few JW's really understand the view that the the WTS now has about the meaning of 'generation', which has shifted to define any generation who happen to be alive to see the the signs alluded to in Matthew 24 of impending Armaggedon.

This scripture and the one you mention in John, and many others dealing with imminent apocalyptic events are best understood exactly as Jesus spoke them, without an interpretive spin put on them. The early Christians lived in the end times of the Jewish nation. The end happened within their generation, this was the one Jesus was warning them about.

Evidence seems to be growing that questions the validity of a post Jerusalem date for the writing of the Revelation. Write me if you wish to know more about this.

When I was active, I was told that the generation that saw WWI would not pass away before the time of the end, and quickly pointed out how many of them were dying everyday. Also, this was used to confirm the date of 1975 as the end because it fit.

When that number got very limited, the time was moved again, and again, and again!

the generation whose characterics are marked by the attitudes in the time of the end will not pass away until the end occurs.

this is true by definition! how could it not be true? its like saying 'the type of people who lived in pompeii before vesuvius erupted are the type of people that lived to see vesuvius erupt.' well duh. why would christ have taken the time to say that something would 'by no means' happen, when it could NOT happen by definition?

Yes, Mox, but you seem to miss the chronological nuances involved in understanding the antitypical nature of the average Vesuvian explosion, which you must admit bear uncanny resemblance to the typical shakings of the Mt. Sinai class, who were released from prison after Rutherfords famous nasal trumpet blast, one of seven, which pictures......

Confused? Congratulations, this way to the Baptism pool, that way to the rub-adub-dub.

"They want to give up on the reasons for urgency but keep the urgency. "No I won't pay you, but you have to work anyway!"

    The old saying,

"wanting your cake, and eating it too" comes to mind :-)

    Hi Pureheart,

I will take you off-site for this discussion as it would probably would not interest that many people.

This is a Bible research forum started recently by Ros. Under the link 'Dating Of Revelation' which I started some while ago, Carl Jonssonn gives you a good starting point for research. You need to subscribe to converse, but it is a most enlightening subject.

    Purheart,
Good to question things. With all the different changes over the many, many years, have the FDS been FAILTHFUL? or DISCREET? Think about it. j2bf
