In the past two decades spanking is unheard of among witnesses and all references to physical punishmant is omitted or rephrased in watchtower literature in Norway.

That's because it s against the law there; no spanking at all. In the US they try to say some spanking is okay.

Germany also has a law against alll spanking of children. But notice the WTS comment.

♦ On January 1, the Federal Republic of Germany joined Sweden in restricting parents’ authority to discipline their children. (See Awake!, 6/22/79, p. 29.) Parents are forbidden to use "degrading upbringing measures," such as spanking, when children disobey. The little ones can take parents to Family Court if they should violate the new law. The government argues that children lose their "human dignity" when they are spanked. However, under the new law, "human dignity" may well be replaced with childish arrogance.

Notice this strange news comment too.

    *** g79 6/22 p. 29 Watching the World ***Sweden Defies Ancient Standards

Instead of mothers’ tender care, new baby Swedes may now receive well-meant but perhaps rougher handling by their fathers for the first eight months. Sweden’s government has offered fathers the option of staying home to care for their infantsat 90 percent salary while mother goes to work. Thousands of fathers have responded to the invitation.

Also, the Swedish Parliament recently voted overwhelmingly to prohibit parents from spanking their children or subjecting them to any other so-called "humiliating treatment." The Ministry of Justice is said to be planning an information campaign that will include distributing videotapes that inform children about their rights. Then how are parents to discipline? Though warning against physical punishment, a government pamphlet for parents says: "Of course, you have the right as a parent to get angry and show it."

I disagree 100%. Discipline, no matter what form, should never be done in anger. What a bunch of assholes. There is nothing wrong with spanking a child when done properly.

People are too stupid to give a kid a 'tap' on the behind that doesn't hurt at all, and that is what a spanking is. NOt the dubbers idiodic moronic stupid belt-beating asinine whippings they give.

I say ban spanking. Not only are JW's too stupid to understand this basic concept, most of humanity is too.

I attended a public school that had corporal punishment. Guess what, the kids respected the teachers. No one got a paddling that didn't deserve it. Furthermore, crime and violence was unheard of. I had more than one teacher ask to borrow my pocket knife to open something, the same pocket knife I carried to school every day. Most students with pickups kept hunting rifles in their backglass. A few kids would trade a few fisticuffs from time to time, but a black eye or two and a trip to the school counselor and it was over with.

I'm finding myself more and more at odds with this pc morally bankrupt society.

    What????

If a so called "spanking" or what you call a 'tap' on the behind doesn't hurt the child at all then what exactly is the point of a "spanking"? Why would a parent want to give his little child a 'tap' on the behind that doesn't hurt at all, unless he's a psycho that somehow gets off on giving children little unpainful 'taps' on their buttocks?

I shudder at the psychological retardation of some members of this forum. I shudder again, and fear for the children entrusted to your care.

If spanking is so fine and dandy with some of you, why is it the law that once a kid hits 18 it's illegal and called assault?

Yeah, I get off on it soooo much. Quillsky, get bent. I wonder the psychological retardation of some members of this forum who can piece together such an idiodic claim with such little information. I also wonder the psychological retardation of someone who uses the term retard in the year 2010.

I think my mom actually did get some kind of sexual gratification from beating us with the belt. She was always on a power high. I can't stand her to this day.
