Hi Uncle Penn,
Aw-w-w-w I'm just too tired now to answer your post about evolution, etc. I just got home from work, doc's appointment, and an eye exam (yawn!).
But i'll think about it!
Cheers . . .

BX, first of all ((((hugs)))).
Secondly, wish I could see all of the CCI info. Also, I don't know what to say to reporters. Got any ideas?
Thirdly, I think your wife is on her way out of the cult. For her to say she would hate to find out someday she could have celebrated her kid's birthday is a BIG DEAL! It means deep down she WANTS to do those things. Deep down I desperately wanted it NOT to be the truth. The thought of living forever with those jerks in my old hall made me want to puke. And those ignorant elders and CO's -- the thought of them being the kings on the earth. Ughhh!
The bottom line ... a little info here, a little there and wallah! I felt as if I woke up from a nightmare.
Ask her questions. Lots of questions. Tell her you're playing devil's advocate. Tell her you want to make sure she would be able to defend her faith in the persecution, when she might lose contact with the society. Get her thinking by asking her questions she will not be able to answer. Pretend one of your children needs a blood transfusion. Ask her what she would say to doctors if they asked her why she accepts all major fractions of blood but not whole blood.
I'm sure you get my drift. Go for it. I will be praying for you and her every day.
Best wishes.
I emailed you the info on CCI. Check out the post This Post For Real Soldiers under the Scandals and UN...etc link.
Unclepenn,
The anti-evolution link you provided is a complete joke. Here is a snippet:
* NOTE:What the hell? It sounds like this guy doesn't even know what Evolution is, so how could he even know if it was proven or not? Since when does the Theory of Evolution have anything to do with space, matter, time, planets, and stars forming?
When I use the word evolution, I am not referring to the minor variations found in all of the various life forms (microevolution). I am referring to the general theory of evolution which believes these five major events took place without God:Time, space, and matter came into existence by themselves.
Planets and stars formed from space dust.
Matter created life by itself.
Early life-forms learned to reproduce themselves.
Major changes occurred between these diverse life forms (i.e., fish changed to amphibians, amphibians changed to reptiles, and reptiles changed to birds or mammals).
Every person I've ever talked to who does not agree with Evolutionary theory simply does not seem to know what they do not agree with. Misconceptions about Evolution are rampant among fundamental Christians.

REM, I think the website in question is referring to transitional forms. You know, evidence of how a pig became a whale over millions of years, stuff like that. Evolution is a fairy tale for grownups!

Unclepenn,
Uh, no. Perhaps you misunderstood the web page. The author of the link you supplied was linking Evolutionary theory with Abiogenesis and the Big Bang. He explicitly spelled it out more than once on that very page. He shows a gross misunderstanding of Evolutionary theory, as do most other people who oppose it. How can anyone take him seriously when he doesn't even understand what he is trying to refute?
Unclepenn, you would do well to follow the counsel at Probers 18:17. Look at both sides of an issue before coming to a conclusion. That's what I had to do (I used to believe in creation too until I did the research). Now how many books written by respected Evolutionary scientists have you read?
Here are some good ones for you to get started on:
The Blind Watchmaker, The Selfish Gene, and Climbing Mount Improbable - Richard Dawkins
Darwin's Ghost - Steve Jones
Why People Believe Weird Things - Michael Shermer
There is also a lot of good information at http://www.talkorigins.org/

"This taken into consideration, what is going to happen when one day, she and so many others have to face the music? They delude themselves, believeing that they all are just gonna slide on in to the "new world"... won't have to see any of that "ugly truth". Just as easy as pie."
Hi BE,
I've said very similar things to Worf and Alan F. over the phone. I liken "IT" to a "catastrophic bomb". And what you describe here is what I call "fallout" from this "bomb". There's no question that this "fallout" will hit many. Can't avoid it now. "IT" builds in toxicity too, more and more discoveries are made re: "ITs" corruption.
What I've had to do now with this knowledge of inevidebility lately, is ACCEPT that it IS going to happen. My mother, along w/ so many concreted in thought, just like her, will suffer severly from this "fallout". I must prepare the "triage center" for her long awaited "arrival". I must too remember that the "fallout" I suffered and still suffer from, all those years ago from being dfed, is nothing in comparison to what she WILL experience herSELF. It very well may literally kill her. I am prepared now for this dynamic symton, if it should happen. Quite frankly, I see many sudden deaths in the future of the jws/wtbts. I see disturbing types of "fallout" in my mindseye. Unpredictable reactions from many different people affliated with this org; whether past, present or future (not if i have anything to do about "IT").
Time to prepare for this "fallout" is now.
If you speak with WORF in the near future, I'd like him to give you my phone number tocall me. I'd like very much to talk one on one with you sir.
Sincerely and appreciatively, sKally
It is a delicate matter BX. I know it took my wife a while to accept the situation. With some I think..that the only thing that keeps them together is the 'truth'. i.e. they would promptly leave each other if they thought they could.
I believe in 'Truth'. Whatever the consequences. The same desire that brought people into the truth should also help them leave...i.e. desire for truth. So keep on with the 'truth'!
I would rather make my own dreams!

>Now how many books written by respected Evolutionary scientists have you read?
The keyword is 'respected' and the usual defenition of that is: those who wholeheartedly support MY world view. What I want to believe.
Right, Rem?
Rex
Exactly, Rex. That's what looking at BOTH sides of an issue is all about. Unclepenn has already seen the Creationist side. Now it's time for him to give the Evolutionist side an honest look. Then, and only then, can he make an intellectually honest decision.
So which books have you read, Rex?
