Funny. I thought I was the only one. yes, they are usually quick but I still have them.

I wish they would go away.

    Chappy,

Appease a man's conscience and you can take away his freedom. That "voice" you hear is your conscience (that part of your true self that wonders about life, death, religion, etc) influenced by the WTS(read fear).

I left because I realized that I couldn't know for sure that the JWs were right. I never said that I knew they were wrong though. At first I guess I felt a little concerned. But as time has gone on and I have become more and more comfortable with the fact that I don't know who, if anyone, is right I am no longer concerned in the least. As far as I know Zeus is gonna kick all of our asses because the Greeks had it right and everyone has forgotten about Him. I worry about the JWs getting it right just as much as I do about Zeus.

If you take "their" teaching at "their" word I figure that the worst is YHWH will kill me at The Big A.
    If I'm dead what's the point- I won't know I'm dead.

I consider concepts of the Jehovahs Witnesses and the Watchtower society with the same criteria I put on all concepts.

    1. Do they make logical sense?
    2. Are they based on sound reasoning?
    3. What is the agenda behind the proposed concept?
    4. What is the value of the concept to me as an individual?
    5. What is the value of the concept to humanity and life in general?

I examine every religious idea, scientific theory, business concept, artistic endeavor or philosophical thought by the same criteria and choose to promote and/or follow those which pass the above outlined tests.

If I thought that Jehovah's Witnesses were right, I would be one of Jehovah's Witnesses, period. If a Jehovah's Witness on this board or elsewhere in my life through reasoning is able to convince me of that, I will become one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Unfortunately, we don't get reasoning Jehovah's Witnesses here, so I am cheated of that opportunity, at least in this forum.

It's funny that you bring this up now.
I am in a transition period - I used to have thoughts like that all the time, every time I heard on the news about an earthquake or some other tragedy I would think "What if they're right."

Not anymore. I've done the research, they are false prophets and money hungry scam artists. Sadly, I was out for ten years always afraid the end would come and destroy me before I looked into their background.

Oh well, noe I know better and the little voices are going away.

Every now and them...like when things go really bad for me...there is that instant I wonder..."Am I being punished for leaving?" but then I realize that even when I was JW I had hard times..this is nothing different. And I have to admit it seems to be getting less and less the further and further I get away from their teachings and the more I learn to live and accept responsibility for my own actions without blaming God or anyone else

I ponder the same question when catastrophic events capture the attention of the media, and the human organizations charged with preventing and responding to tragedy fail or appear powerless.

For example, knowing that terrorists may possess nuclear weapons is a sobering thought. Witnessing the second Bush family member plunge the great american society of the information age into economic trouble and diplomatic chaos is also frightening.

When you realize human efforts fade to futility in one historical event after another, it is easy, almost comforting to revert back to the WTBS diagnosis of current world symptoms.

Then, I recompose myself and remember what is written in scripture. I also remember that religions are human organizations and prone to futility disguised with hypocrisy and manipulation.

Once I realize that believing in a Divine Creator means focusing my concentration and meditation upon the object/target of that personal belief, I am immune to human interference.

My personal concept of a Supreme Being resides in my mind and that concept is the focus of my thoughts, target of my prayers, and subject of my research. The human factor cannot become a variable when the concept is abstract, personal, and psychological.

Therefore, like many before me and many to follow, from time to time, I too will be suddenly jolted or dislodged from balance because of a former scripted paradigm of fear and almost begin to tremble.

Fortunately, reason, logic, and reality awaken me like the frozen waters of the antarctic, and I begin thinking again. It is the constant motion and energy created by thinking and exercising of my mind that generates the heat and warmth that lights my soul!

    Think of it this way:

How many times have the organisation predicted that Armagedon is coming?

How many changes in policy have the organisation had surrounding blood transfusions and what components/fractions, if any, are acceptable?

Have they changed their viewpoint on the meaning of the words "this generation"?

Have they changed their viewpoint on accepting vaccinations?

Have they changed their viewpoint on voting?

How much "new light" has there been over the years on a number of major, life affecting topics?

IF THE WATCHTOWER, BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY WAS GOD'S SPOKESPERSON ON THE EARTH, THEN THE PREDICTIONS AND DOCTRINES STATED IN THEIR OWN LITERATURE WOULD BE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. IT WOULD BE FROM GOD, RIGHT?

THERE WOULD BE NO NEED FOR "NEW LIGHT".

    THERE WOULD BE NO MISTAKES.

    I rest my case.
