You asked: Does anyone know of ANY scripture that indicates that all early Christians could only have the heavenly hope?

The TRUTH is that such ones did not have that hope alone nor is such held out, per se. True, they do go to heaven, the House of the Father, to be joined in marriage to their husbandly-owner, Christ, but they return... and rule UPON THE EARTH. This is why they, the Bride of Christ, NEW JERUSALEM... is seen "coming down OUT of heaven." It is how Gog and Magog "come against" the Holy City, New Jerusalem.

The "city" is made up of people: Christ, the "foundation cornerstone"; the apostles, the "foundation"; the prophets and others, "pillars," and the rest "living stones." It is the "temple" of God... which Christ is building... and which God is to occupy... by spirit.

Your question appears to ask whether only early Christians had the hope, whatever hope that might have been... and the answer is, yes. Only "christians" (i.e., those who are chosen people by means of an anointing - choosing - with holy spirit)... have the hope of being that city/temple and ruling with Christ... UPON the earth... for 1,000 years.

The people they rule OVER, however, are not "christians." They could be buddhists, muslims, pagans, have called themselves "christians,"... whatever. They are, however, "sheep" by virtue of having done good to Christ's brothers (Jews (any and all), non-Jewish Israelites (Samaritans of Israelite descent), and those of the nations who are accounted with these by means of an anointing). Because they, be default, did good to CHRIST... when they did good to his brothers, these also are given white robes... "spirit bodies"... and permitted into the kingdom... but as subjects. They make up the "camp" of the holy ones, which camp "surrounds" the "holy city"... New Jerusalem... made up of Christ and those who belong to him by means of an anointing. (The "goats" are Gog, those who, along with wicked spirits, Magog, are misled by Satan to come against the "camp" and "city." They do this because he has misled them to believe that they, too, can "enter"... and eat... from the Tree of Life... Christ... who is in the midst of the city... or the most sacred place of the "temple" that is God's people.

The Most Holy One of Israel did not create the earth for nothing, however, but for it to be inhabited. And so it will be, as he also purposes to bring together... again... the things in the heavens (spirit realm) and the things on earth (physical realm). Which is why Christ said, "They will go in AND out... and find pasturage." That is how it was before Adam sinned - he and Eve could go in... and out. That ended when they sinned, however, which is cherubs were stationed at the entrance to the garden. It is also why there are cherubs stationed at the "gates" of heaven: so that those who are not PERMITTED to go in to the spirit realm... are precluded from doing so. They must remain "outside." All others, however, will be able to come and go between the two realms... freely... as FREE spirit beings always have.

There is no "heavenly" AND "earthly" hope, dear one. There is only ONE hope... and it involves both. Ephesians 4:4

Paul got part of it right... the part about being raised up/changed, meeting our Lord "in the air" and going to our Father's house with him; the "heavenly" part. However, his understanding stopped there. For what happens afterward... you would have to refer to John, who was inspired (i.e. IN spirit - John 4:1), when he wrote, and who received his revelation from God, through Christ, by means of Michael... and who wrote what he had seen (2 Cor. 12:2), was seeing... and would yet see (Rev. 21:2).

Paul, although knowing of John's revelation (as to what he had seen - 2 Cor. 12:2-4)... was not privy to what John would yet see, and write while in the spirit... at the time he (Paul) wrote. It was not given to Paul; it was given to John.
