How about Beach Umbrella and Floatation Device rental person on some exotic beach? They don't mind if you set up and paint seascapes and listen to your radio. They pay $12 an hour and give you a free cottage.
Or hey, how about overseer for some wealthy person's estate, one of several homes hardly ever stay at this one. You get to boss the maids, gardeners, etc around, but you're nice. You get free run of the house and grounds and you get to live in the caretaker's apartment, which is bigger and nicer than any home you could ever own. And you get paid $2000 per month, health insurance, use of the pool, tennis courts, horses and stables, chef and you get paid on the months they don't need you. They have parties with celebrities. You can be around during the parties as long as you don't make a nuisance of yourself. And they will pay your tuition to college as long as you promise not to give up this dream job for five years following granuation.

If I knew then what I know now...
I would have tossed my good saddle in the back of the truck and headed to North Dakota or Wyoming to cowboy in '82. Back them $60bucks a week, room and eats would have been a good deal.
