    for the meeting change.

They can't just say:" that extra meeitng sucks", or" nobody REALLY wants to have the BS in their house", or "we want to keep a closer watch on you guys". So, what reason will they give?

    My thoughts are:

1- Gas prices (save your gas for field service)

2- Strenghtening the brotherhood (keep them all in one place)

3- Protection (when persecussion breaks out bros. with a BS in their home could become targets)

So what do ya'll think they will give by way of an explanation???

I really think it is pretty much that and cutting operating expenses.

    I go with number 2,
There's nothing they like more, than to promote "Unity", (when actually, they are just herding them together)

How about fewer meetings mean that more congregations can share the same KH. Then they don't have to build so many.

I'm thinking they want that time filled with something else -- family bible study is my guess. "You have no excuse not to do it, we're giving you this time previously open for the meeting. You made the meetings, of course, so now take that time to strengthen your family."

It serves the purpose of more intimately indoctrinating the kids. It also allows the "barely-hanging-on" folks a little breathing room. Maybe if it is slightly less oppressive to remain a JW, more people will choose to do so.

    That's my almost-surely-wrong guess.

    Dave,

You just hit the nail on the head. No excuse for not keeping your children in.......we gave you an extra day/

Meanwhile.......the kids are throwing up in their mouth on Thursday and Sunday.

    AA,

That makes a lot of sense, what excuse could the parents possibly come up with..... "Good Thinking"..

Remember the analogy about how all 5 meetings are like your 5 toes? The small toe seems insignificant, but without it balancing is difficult, and is therefore as important as all the other toes?

Well all of a sudden the small toe is not needed anymore.

Y'all are forgetting the number one, catch-all excuse for any change whatsoever:

    Simplification!

I'll bet anyone a shiny nickel that the word "simplification" or "simplified" is somewhere in the letter to be read on Sunday.
