Past my prime and now I'm tired

OK, so I became a JW when I was in my mid 20's. I was in my prime.
I was so busy being a witness, taking in the truth, pioneering bla bla bla that I feel like I've missed out on life totally. Now I'm pushing 40 and I'm tired. Tired of having to go out in the ministry, tired of having to read all the "food" that is doled out to us weekly, study the Watchtower for every Sunday, etc, etc, etc.

I'm just tired and can feel old age creeping up on me. Now I look back and I realise I'm no longer in my prime (start Scottish accent "Gerrrals, Am In Mah prrrrime" ... Jean Brodie... gotta love that movie).

Oh well, my new life starts today.

    So how's your day going?

Hey Jo, welcome to this board.

I too am tired and trying to get on with my life now at age 28. It looks like it's going to be a tough road with getting entrenched in the witness mentality then being hooked to all those on this board having a similar mentality now. It's just something hard to shake. Glad to see a newcomer and I hope that you fellowship with many here who are healing.

    Welcome Jo!
I loved what Joelbear told you...life occurs in the moment. Sit back take a deep breath and enjoy everyday as it comes.

So your life started today? I must ask How is your day going?

I know how you're feeling. It's scary because sometimes I feel out of control and so selfish. I want to experience the world and I feel trapped in the Midwest, mediocrity and a somewhat mundane relationship with my husband. I just recently had a brief relationship with a man that made me feel young again. We actually broke it off before anything too serious because I didn't want my husband to find out and leave me right now. I just couldn't take it if that happened. But, I did and still do feel a strong desire to be a little wild, do things I never did before and just live life more fully. I know, it's not like having an affair is something to make life more meaningful. Not at all. But, it's the state I've been in and I'm feeling so restless.
I'm going to learn how to rollerblade or ski this year. I think that might be a more reasonable way to make life more fun. I hope you find somehting positive to make you happy too.

Look on the bright side-----If you stop active JW-ing you'll get at least 20 hours of your week back. Plus, not living in the fishbowl of that man pleasing, works ahead of faith, artificial pressure to be prematurly perfect world you almost have to get the "OL ZIP" back.

Every day I draw a breath is reason for a party.
