May you have peace!
I just noticed your avatar (I don't know how I missed it before!). I have tried many times to explain to folks here what spirit beings look like.
I may be wrong, but I believe it is a depiction of a gargoyle? Gargoyles were placed on many of the old churches and other buildings in an effort to ward off demons. These were not mythical beings, per se, however, but "images" of spirit beings... as someone of that day knew they truly appeared.
Your avatar is QUITE close (although I have never seen sit on its haunches in that manner; all that I have seen stand upright, like us). One of the most important things are the wings: they are NOT birdlike... but reptilian. Dragon-like. These appear quite small, in comparison to what I've seen (although, they can shrink and expand them as they choose to - the wingspans that I've had the privilege of observing were/are about 15-20 feet.)
Anyway, I want to thank you for this; although it isn't NECESSARY, it's always good to know that someone else has seen what you have... and provided some "evidence" of that.
Peace to you!

"If it's the 'truth', why do you have to ceaselessly *call* it the 'Truth'? Shouldn't |truth|, in its truest sense and definition, be universally discoverable in a way that surpasses semantics? Ordinary truths are. What is so different about the JW's 'Truth' that they cannot simply allow it to demonstrate itself to be its own independently and reproducibly confirmable truth?" The Kubler-Ross model has 5 stages of grief- Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance. Ceaseless assertion that what they have is "The Truth" is stage one, Denial. I.e., they consciously recognize it is not separately reproduceable. But I've known JW's who have stayed in well beyond the point of knowing it was all bullshit, largely because of the social and familial networks which are the foundations of religion to begin with. I salute those who psychologically worked their way up through the stages of grief, even to acceptance, and stay in the whole JW thing, but do so only because they them-own-damn-selves have counted the cost of leaving/building a new life, like Jesus said, and chosen to stay with a lesser evil, as they *personally* evaluate it.
All mammals endure the experiance of being weened from mother's tit! The need to attach to a nursishing supply of pablum is universal and different mothers go about disengagement in different ways. In this case "mother" is more "attached" to the engagement than the infant. Be patient with those that cannot concieve of giving up the passifier! If being sustained through the mental pablum of an outside source, perhaps being that transitional source is worthy of merit,,,,,or not! Some folks respond positively to the challenge you postulate re wether or not it is in fact the truth, while others shrink like a plant without water. There are, as you correctly state, many organizations and individuals who are actively doing "God's will" and to seek for them is a worthwhile persuit. Invariably while doing so the newly activated mind will begin to ponder deeper questions that will re-inforce the in-born need to "know". Once on that path, unless one falls prey to mental diverticulosis, it will lead to a much greater "truth'. carmle
It's like the movie "The Matrix"........"Try not to bend the spoon, instead realize.....there is no spoon!"
Don't try to bend the "truth" to fit your thinking......instead realize....there is no truth.
If I felt the need for religion, I would start my own. As we know, there is a lot of money in it.

realize....there is no truth.
Is that true?

Do not follow them.Interesting... he did not say "Do not follow them except for <this one>"; he said "Do not follow them." any of them. And them, by definition from the previous verse, are they that "come in my name" saying "the time is near".
"Whom shall we go away to?" That is excellent. I first read that on this board a few days ago. That "where shall I go, what shall I do" thing is Scarlet O'Hara, I think.
Those people that would ask you "where else can you go?" have not yet been beaten (figuratively) within an inch of their life. When your very life is in danger, where do you go?
Out. Away from the immediate danger. You secure your life first, just as your instincts tell you.
Hey OTWO,
I've gotten that alot in the past month...
My response thus far is that I do not know what the truth is, but I intend to search for it and find meaning in my life. But I am definitely not going to follow a lie anymore. That would be stupid to stay in, just cause it feels good and all my friends are doin it...
