What are you guys talking about? We never had a book study on Tuesday night. We've always had the three meetings combined. Back in 1975 there was some idle talk in newspapers about the possibility of having three meetings a week (which you cannot believe, of course, and it might have been on the Internet which you also cannot believe, of course) and some people thought that proved that Armageddon was near. We've never had a book study, it's always been a Bible study followed by studies of the Watchtower publications for about the same length of time, of course, because it is equal to the Bible and written by the same Holy Spirit. It's always been this way. This is just another example of the loving provision of the Faithful and Discreet Slave. How else will we get the "new" scrolls? - Revelation 20:12. The scrolls we have been using were supplied by Scott Paper Company.

Gotta run now--have to go the store--need more Koolaid.

Here in my little corner of Southern Mongolia...

Reaction was along the lines of "Oh how loving and kind of the GB to recognize the stresses we all face! How loving! How kind! Did I say this was a loving and kind provision? 'Cause if I didn't let me just say how loving and kind it is!"

One lonely voice in the crowd was heard to say "But if the end is drawing closer, wouldn't they add a meeting, rather than take one away? 'Meeting together all the more so as the day draws near?' "

But overall, people (the ones I heard) were pleased.

    The real reasons?

Think about it. It's always about money. They are probably not getting enough dollars in the coffer - many of these meetings occur in private homes. This means that folks are not sitting there in the KH - where someone from the stage can whine about the expenses - and needing more money to pay for things. Make that contribution today!

It's also about control. There were probably reports about some folks who were putting their own personal 'spin' on the beliefs being taught. So - by having all folks there in one location - and only one person (company man) dishing it out from the platform - ALL get the same innoculation... the same dixie cup of cyanine-laced kool-aid.

It's also about attendance. Those folks that may have been able to attend the informal Tuesday night meetings in a private home - but not able to make the Sunday (or Thursday night) meetings... health reasons... *cough* *cough*

Oh - and don't forget that the legal department is now running the show. They have probably been hit with lawsuits from individuals who have been molested after meetings at private homes - on Tuesday nights. This would probably put the lawsuits into a different category than if it occurred at the KH.

So there you have it. The only problem is that they cannot come right out and tell the REAL reason(s) for the change - or it might make them look bad. So - put a 'save fuel' spin on it - and they look like heroes - and geniuses. Praise Jah for such a fine arrangement! (joking)

They gotta be happy that there is one less meeting. I still don't get how this means the end is near??

I wonder if any of them have figured out that they are probably going to be asked to spend that "found" time out in field circus. So much for that bowling league.

I think all younger and middle-aged brothers are VERY pleased.

My parents (both near 80 years) were not thrilled since they attend a weekday morning book study, made up primarily of older ones and sisters with "unbelieving" husbands (sometimes 30 or more attend).

Anyway, after the meeting, alot of them go our together for lunch or sometime they go to someone's home for buffet type lunch, etc. Sometimes they will not return home until 3 or 4 o'clock.

So I guess some may feel this is an attack on their social time. I just told them to schedule a time to meet somewhere every week and keep the group together.
