no more bible study slip reports. WHY?

I apologize if this has been discusses before. A few months ago publishers were told not to hand in individual study reports for bible studies. Remember, we had to hand in a separate report for each bible study with name and address of bible student. All that is required now is to add the number of different bible studies on your own field service report. I am wondering if society got in trouble because they are infringing on a persons privacy rights. Any other suggestions?

I missed that bit of news completely.

You could be right about the privacy matters, but it could be it was just too much damn work keeping up with all those slips.

Another benefit is that it could actually improve the bible study numbers. If a publisher isn't being asked to prove the identities of his studies, he could add a study or two and no one would be the wiser. I wouldn't be surprised if the Society knew that and was just making it easier for people to report questionable studies so they can spike their numbers in the annual report.

    It's all speculation though.

It happened very quickly. I think there was an announcement in the KM a few months ago. Usually, they phase in changes, but not with this one. It went in immediately.

I thought it was just to save on printing costs. However, there may be some privacy issues as well. Remember, those reports just went to the secretary. The secretary kept them for 6 months, the CO would review them, and then they would be disgarded. They never left the local congregation (at least in the US)

Yep. In a perfect congo with a gung-ho Secretary that's what would happen. I heard of a neighboring congo that would periodically have announcements made reminding everyone to make sure and fill a Bible Study report slip EVERY MONTH.

In our congo the Secretary NEVER asked ANYONE for them. The handfull he did get would get stuck in with the publisher record cards. The C.O.s never said a peep about them even though typically there was only about one report slip for every 4 Bible Studies. Most of the servant body didn't turn them in for their family studies either.

If this was a common scenario nationwide it was a no-brainer to let this arrangement fade into JW history right along with Muffin-Eggs.

I didn't realize this change happened either. I guess the publishers won't have to create fake names and addresses of bible studies any longer.
