Trickie, you miss the point. You are correct abuse happens in all cultures in all orgs etc.
The issue is, how they hadle it.
And JW's handle child abuse issues very poorly.
And until they begin to protect there own children, i really don't care what else they have to say, I have no respect for them.
course i dont back up pedophiles i have my own issues with that myself. what i'm saying is unless you want isolate your family to the mountains theres gonna be a risk that your child could get abused. with the witnesses, if its a he said she said situation they cant do anything about it if the Elder or the offender lies about it. very very disgusting i know, however thats the best system they can come up with otherwise anyone with beef will an elder would just shout "rape" and they would be removed (again ive had my exp with this too). so in the end theres no perfect system for this just that you know Jehovah has something special reserved for these sickos.
Welcome to the board Trickie. I can understand why you think the pedophilia issue is too focused on. It's "old" news and the WTS has condemned these perverts and
given the BOEs instructions on how to handle it in the future.
However, that being said, I think the reason it gets so many ex-JWs so angry is because many of us were raised in this organization and were taught all our lives that
it is Jehovah's chosen group and he watches over his flock and protects them from Satan's constant machinations. Had it happened and been done with timely, we
probably would get over it more quickly. But it went on for years and years and was blatantly covered up for years and years. This does not sound like an organization
being lead by Jehovah's spirit and it is SO obvious to most of us that this is the case, that it just makes us want to puke that we were duped into believing He watches
over and protects his people. How many of us remember the experiences related at the assemblies of going door to door and some pervert deciding not to bother the
brother or sister because he "saw" an angel behind them? All lies and more lies to make the society look good and most of us see it for what it is.

Trickie- The witnesses DO NOT have the best system they can come up with in reporting child abuse . I know- I called Bethel . A legal department representative told me that the procedure is , " When elders first get word of a child being abused they are told to contact the societies legal department immediately to get advise on what to do." They are NOT advised to go immediately to the authorities or police ! Meanwhile while they wait for the " mother " organization to reply in writing- a pedophile has the opportunity to molest the innocent children more and more. So- it is NOT a good policy.
Psychology studies show that 99 percent of children being molested DO NOT make it up or lie about it. They tell the truth. The Jehovah's Witnesses claim to have more love than other religious organizations ! Yet their cases of child abuse and pedophilia rival the Catholic Church in amount that has happened ! You just don't hear about it - because they will not inform you of it ! The Watchtower is more concerned about their reputation to outsiders and you - than the safety of the children. Educate yourself my friend
My question is why in the world are people leaving theyre kids alone with ANYBODY for in the first place, elder or not.
Because the JW is the "true religion" and we are always told to trust the elders and those taking the lead, why wouldn't the flock trust the elders and MS's? They are told to trust them with their lives. Of course they will trust them with their children and possibly call their own kids liars when they report abuse by such trusted ones. The whole system of JW is set up for abuse.

WHITE DOVE - NEVER are you told to trust Elders or anybody in the org with your life and NEVER should you even do so. They themselves say that everybody is imperfect, dont ever leave your kids alone with ANYBODY thats just dumb. Crazyblonde - I myself havent been a victim but members in my family have been abused, not by witnesses, although my mother-in-law was by her bio dad when she was a kid and she went anti-jw cause of it for a while. my point is that pedophilia isnt an issue of witnesses, its an issue of this world. dont leave your kids alone with anyone.
