Falling Asleep at Assemblies

Yes I have dozed off many times when I used to attend. Most of the time kept the shades on as we used to have outside assemblies. The thing was not to slide off the chair, drop your head forward or snore.

I've seen some brothers/sister hitting a serious lean to the left or right as they slept and then they'd jerk awake, only to lean again.

Some people had sneaky methods. My cousin, while sleeping would turn the pages of the bible. Some would lower there umbrellas so low that you couldn't see what was happening under there.

At the very last assembly I went too - I literally laid out a blanket on the lawn and unashamadly caught a 2 talk sleep.

    Your stories.

The first few years we were married, I learned the fine art of sleeping in a chair without nodding my head while attending JW conventions with my wife.

--Now I wish I hadn't, because I'm afraid it might happen while I'm driving.....

I used to do it all the time. It almost always happened in the afternoon sessions, usually just before the break. I didn't really give a fxxx what others thought.

Amazingly, I never fell asleep at the assemblies, had to poke Hubby a few times tho. I would pray for the baby to fall asleep, it never seemed to fail, that once she did.... the inane clapping would start and we would be off again...

LOL Lou Belle, that's my husband!! In the afternoon especially, he'd fall asleep sitting straight up. His mouth would fall open, his head would dip to the side, and sometimes he'd even snore *hah* I had to poke him to wake him up, and then he would deny that he had been asleep.

I WANTED to sleep, but I was always wrangling kiddies, so no rest for me :-( .

    heh heh

I use to fall asleep but last time I went to an ASSembLIE I was 13 or 14, but I remember when I was a kid my dad would always fall asleep and he would snore soo loud, and my mom would get pissed off at him.

Unforturnately this habit has caused me problems in real life. If I am at a boring work meeting or course, I just start closing down. As these are often small goups the speaker often gets annoyed picking on me.

Ah, the old head jerk routine.

Oh my god, assemblies were better than any drug going for inducing sleep.

And, come to think of it, since I've been out I don't think I've ever attended anything as boring.

    Cheers,

    Alex
