I have waded in and out of college (degree, fun courses, change degree, upgrade degree) since I was 17, thus proving all the bad things my PO said about me.
LOL most of my KH (teen- 50's) are in online courses now.
ooohhh I can see the immorality seeping through webadvisor & blackboard....ROFL
When I started in 1995, I was still in, but having doubts. The society had actually softened their stance somewhat at this point, and I even got encouragement from an elder. But the fact that I was having doubts was my main motivation for going back to school.
I am technically in since I have not written a da letter nor have I been df'd. But I wholeheartedly took the wt advice in the late 70's and did shitty in school, flaked off college and wound uo doing ok as a handyman/janitor/jack of all trades. I started college in 2006 and am getting my degree in a couple of weeks. Then I will go for my bachelor's. I do it online and a bit at a time so I am slow but sure to get it done.
Started doing degree when i began my fade.When i graduated i was no longer attending meetings.
Graduated age 40, great sense of achievement. Did degree at evening classes very hard but worth it

I went to college before joining the cancer. I had already graduated (into a crappy economy), and then the witlesses called.
I started while still an elder of all things.... Believe me, that started the ball rolling against me some more..
After I graduated MTS....... I decided I needed a real education...took me a couple more years to get started...I have one degree now...working on another....and will just keep plugging along until I have a Masters in something..... maybe just a couple classes at a time...all I can afford money and time wise..
If I had done this nearly 25 years ago when I graduated HS, I wouldnt be in this pickle....

Started while in with no objection from BOE; had left Bethel just weeks prior. Got an associates degree, then bachelors. Currently working on a masters degree.
I started college before leaving, but I ain't finished yet due to some complications, but I will finish college!
i assimilated WITH a degree.... and since leaving have been continuing my education to enhance job skills
This is so encouraging to me. I'm going after a masters in the fall after just getting my bachelors this month. I started out so slooooooowwwwww...but when I got into the 4 year college, it went right along on schedule. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do. Now I'm in a financial position and mental place that I don't want to waste anymore time on getting somewhere. I'll be going full speed ahead for a Ph.D. in social welfare or criminal justice. I'll be able to teach it and have fun with it while making a living. I like both fields but one does pay more than the other.
Thank you for posting your experiences. It really helps me to see that it's OK to be older and in college. It's never too late to make a success of myself!
