Why is it soooo important to be a regular meeting attender when you can read the publication simply, at home? They don't want you elaborating on the material. They don't encourage doing extra research. What you do at the meetings, you can do at home.
So what's the deal about meeting attendance??

How can the All Seeing Eye of the Worthy-Of-Double-Honor Elders watch you when you're in the privacy of your own home?
Meeting attendance proves you'll sacrifice your valuable time to sit and listen to bull****. Also, if the elders want to get your butt in a JC, it's a bit harder to wiggle out when they've got you inside the Hell, right?
You can't be controlled from home! And they can not see what your doing there.........

They know their spiritual pablum is repetitious and boring, and that no one in their right mind would actually sit and read it for any length of time. It's all about enforcement.
