For the same reasons other christian religions goto church and inspired by the same scriptures hmmm
here's a question... what is the history of people going to church services? Have christians always done it?

If you didn't go that must mean you are hanging out with worldies. and that's bad. you must go and hang out with the robots.

"not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together", can't remember the scripture and don't want to know either. I just remember having these words drummed into me.

I think it is a form of group hynosis.

Scroll down to the part comparing hypnotic technique. I've always thought there was something to
this hypnosis idea, especially when CO's would privately counsel me against adding additional
information to talks, in an attempt to make them more interesting. Informative is clearly not the goal.

Nope.
The difference is very clear.
The JWs view non-attenders as weak and will shun them to varying degrees. The pressure is there to attend ALL meetings and not only attend, but participate. Other faiths, such as a church I've attended recently, welcome me back just the same and with just as much love and support even if they've not seen me for 2 weeks. (or longer)
Also, the JWs have a unique format in their meetings, based on the books and magazines published by the Watchtower society. This format, as I've pointed out, is designed to indoctrinate.
Mainstream churches are very different indeed.

Meeting attendance wastes more time that could have been used to independently research. It can also make sure no one is using independent sources to verify what they are learning, plus it is an opportunity to hound people to do more in field circus.
