Interesting Phenomonena: "Weak" JWs Are Now The "Strong" Ones!

Years ago, the "Weak Family" were the ones that always were nice JWs but considered "weak in the Truth". They still went on their vacations, might've sent their kids to colleges, had plenty of "worldly" friends and so forth. BUT if they had to make a stand, let's say on the "blood issue", they'd rather die than accept a transfusion! Now, why exactly, they might decide to "remain faithful" is questionable as the "Weak" family could never ever defend their beliefs as well as they should!

Now, we see those that were once considered "immature" as shining examples to the faithful of the Organization. They are 'ooohed and ahhhed' because they are still Witnesses 40 years later! These JWs take special delight in the "old days" where they went to Yankee Stadium in the blistering heat for 8 days and 12 hour assembly programs! They recite their experiences of how the local priests used to scream at them for having the audacity to knock on their parish doors. The "Weak Family" still prides themselves of what they did decades ago.

What I see left in the Organization, is a group of old disjointed families or individuals that never really made it up the theocratic ladder during the 70s, 80s and 90s. They are the leftovers! They are the ones that never strove for excellence within the congregation but they were still barely "active", never getting the "quota" or congregation "goal" in the ministry, but they still were always around.

This is what the Organization is left with---and it shows!

Minimus....I'm sure there is a scripure somewhere that explains this phenomenon as we live out these last seconds of the last minutes of the last hours of the last days.

Something about the lessor ones becoming greater, I think......Or am I twisting that scripture too pretzelly.

I guess you can pretzel logic anything and use a scripture to prove it. I can only think the Society isn't too happy to be left with such quality Jehovah's Witnesses.

    Minimus...

I can see that a lot...and some variations of it. I think the borg relies on the young ones NOT knowing the old light and the old ones to carry on their warm and fuzzy rendition of the "old days." A lot of those old ones you mention probably have so much of their lives invested they don't even want to consider the possibility of the WTBS being false. They have ruled out things like 1975, regurgitating the WTBS version of those days.

Then there are the "hangers-on" like I was. Born into it, but something just never connected for me so I never made the troof my own (i.e. dunked)...but of course I felt it was my fault. they had the truth...I just wasn't worthy enough to carry the JW banner. I remember coming to their defense many times. I was probably a lot like a self-professed "JW simpathizer" who frequents this board. Not good enough to become a card-carrying JDub but by gawd defending them to the death, which just might give me an outside chance at Armageddon.

Yup...and the formerly "weak" JWs who disobeyed "mother" and got a college degree 20 or 30 years ago, but later decided to go to Bethel, are the ones who are going to be left there, while the "good boys" who pioneered right out of high school and then went to Bethel now find themselves laid off, floundering in the big bad evil "world" for the first time in their lives.

Hey Farkel! Good to see ya, man!

Bonezz, you make the point that I'm suggesting. Having sympathizers or defenders like you isn't going to make the Organization strong.

Sir, you are dead on! Those collegiates must just laugh their asses off!

Everyone who could think and lead has left. Sloppy seconds and leftovers are what is left... I see the WTBTS stepping away from brick and mortar religion. They are drifting to a mail-order, production by sub contractor business

Legal is guiding this..and if an operation does not "return investment" they will get out of it.

So let the "B" team have there time in the sun....

The BOE where I was is a mix, but mostly those that pursued material goals
(I say that JW expression holding back the gag reflex) first. Some have college
degrees or their own business. The P.O. watches the stock market. One elder
is able to make high hourly wages and work less hours, so he volunteers for
Bethel with his wife every year (She has a Master's Degree in teaching and takes
Summer off). These guys do seem strong today, but would have been looked
    at as weak years ago.

There are some firmly dedicated ones who are letting their low income and their
lack of decent healthcare provision depress them. They have always been strong.
I wouldn't say they are considered weak now, but I suppose it does make the
gossip circles that they are complacent and "needy."

i totally understand what you are saying, Mini........I see that in my mom's case.......she was considered weak for many years, and even my sis and i used to lecture her about regularly attending meetings, not hanging with her worldly family and friends........she basically did what she wanted all those years, and is considered today a faithful sister, and I a DF'd sinner and apostate..........lol........mom tells me that the organization has changed alot since the old days, it has become kinder, gentler.......personally, i think it's that the guys in charge are realizing that most people today WON'T abide by the strict, self denying lifestyle that was the "old style" of this organization. People want COMFORT today. They are too pampered and used to having things easy. So, to attract new ones and keep the few souls it has left, it is backing off the pressure.

Dubs are a multi-level marketing concern that depends, and thrives, on turnover. The ones who stay forever are the ones with large dub families and/or business ties that make it impossible to walk away, so they walk away emotionally and intellectually but stay connected physically.

I've come to realize it isn't any more complicated than that.
