You know, I've thought about that myself...the ones who really fit socially, though "weak" by org standards, are the ones who stick around. The "strongest" ones who were pioneering yet socially exclusive, are the ones who are on the brink. I'll give you one example...one regular pioneer sister who was a "great example" for others for living the spartan lifestyle and pioneering just up and snapped--and all during the CO's visit, no less! She left her job, her apartment, and just completely disappeared with no forwarding address. No one knows what happened to her.
Interesting Phenomonena: "Weak" JWs Are Now The "Strong" Ones!

It was always this way - as long as I was involved. The few who actually had jobs and some money were really the "salt of the earth" who held it all together.
Who do you think actually built the Kingdom Halls, paid for the CO visit, (and the assemblies), supported the pioneer class, and made up the bulk of the contributions that kept the lights on?
And all the time, got treated like dirt itself.
I do not know how these good people ever put up with it - and to tell the truth, I was one of them for most of my time in the borg.

These lower caliber Witnesses were certainly "used" for whatever they could give, whether it was labor or $$$.

Possibly because the "strong" ones burned out years ago? Or their living in poverty forced them to stop going to boasting sessions so they could work, while those with higher incomes were able to continue attending.
This is where slow and steady can win the race. Unfortunately, it's not a race I would like to "win", because the prize is nothing more than an illusion. The whole Kingdom of God is refuse.

At least we are out of the cult. I hate this religion more and more every day!

hey bonezz am I being presumptive in knowing the "JW simpathiser" you refer to is me lol
I made mistake of using the "Weak" word to the JW's i'm studying with and they were shocked it's clear however much once it was used, in my cong at least refering to others as "weak" is frowned upon, possibly making myself a judge of someone else.
I wonder if the widows mite scripture can come into play here, If a person has been in Jw's for 40 years I'd call them strong lol

minimus, I'm see the same thing. I see pioneers, elders and PO leaving or getting DF'd left and right. What's left are the stragglers that barely go out in service and make the meetings but they now they are considered the strong ones The thing with the witnesses is those that hang on, even barely, are the ones that truly have the truth in their heart.

I thiunk the 2 scriptures they will use to justify these happening are first:
The one in mathew that talks about the love of the greater number coolinf off (I think its mathew.)
The second I believe is in 1 Corinthians (Again I think dont have bible to confirm) where it talks about god choose the foolish things of tyhe world to confound the wise.

I was discussing this same thing with my sister a couple of days ago. I am glad you brought it up. I have some lontime friends who have been in organization for many, many years. They were not considered spiritually strong, but I always considered them good christian people. I always thought god was not going to destroy people like this. They follow bible standards, love their neighbor etc. My sister agree with me. I think she really starting to see that the society is full of crap, even though she says she thinks it is the truth, but after we had talked for hours her real feelings were coming out. I asked her the same thing I ask other witnesses, at what point in time was it the truth. It certainly wasn't during rutherfords time, for example, because everthing he wrote is considered apostate today. She didn't know that rutherford wrote everthing his self.

Hey everyone. I am new here. This is my first post so here it goes...
I came from a whole family of "weak" witnesses, yet when my husband and I decided to leave, we even got the cold shoulder from my family. My mom is married to a catholic, but still goes to the meetings, even though she has been disfellowshipped twice. About half of my large family has been divorced or DF'ed or are currently inactive. No one had the courage to say "enough" and leave like we did. I am doing online college courses, and when I told my dad about it he wasn't happy for me at all. What bothers me the most is how we were guilted in to staying poor and uneducated. The only education is that from the society. Secular ideas are evil right?
Glad to be here,
Amy
