    Good afternoon to everyone,

First off ,let me say how glad i am to have found this web site and im looking forward to learning more about everything JW related.

A little info about me... I'm 39 years old, being in the Navy for 18 years now so next year i'll be retiring ;). Im stationed In Birmingham ,AL at this time and drive to FL to see my son every other weekend. As you can see...even if i was to entertain the thought of becoming a JW (no way), they would not accept me being that im in the military. With that being said........

I need help.... My sons mother became a JW about 2 years ago and seems to be very involved in it which eventually cost us our relationship which have been very painfull to me and specially my son. I have a 5 year old son who she has primary custody of. I have been in the process of trying to get primary custody for the last 2 years and are close to going to court within the next few months. I dont need to tell you how damaging it would be to my sons childhood development intellectually or socially if she does keep primary custody so i'm asking any one who resides near the area of Crestview, Fort Walton Beach/ Pensacola, Florida area who was or knows someone who was a prior JW elder to please contact me as their intimate and first hand knowlegde of the inner workings of the JW would be of great help. Any info anyone can pass on to me will be great.

My son and I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter. Look forward to hearing from you guys and gals soon.

    GOD BLESS!!!

    Daniel

I was married to a JW and divorced after I quit the cult, but we had no kids so I know next to nothing about custody battles. One thing that may help you get custody is the JW position on refusing blood transfusions. A JW would let a child die rather than accept blood.

    Welcome to the board.

    Hi, welcome to the board.

Do you get to see your son often?

There is a site called ..."Meetup.com"

You might be able to find a group of ex-jw's in your area in this site.

That's all I can help you with. I'm sure some others will be able to give you more advice.

    Good luck.

Ignore my earlier post. Someone or something removed the link.
I don't need to know why, just ignore it.

MONDEO 32- I had some experience in California with this in 1998 to 2001 when after my JW wife and I divorced she tried to limit how much I saw my 13, 11, and 10 year old children ! We had joint custody, with her the primary caregiver, although my children visited 3 and a half days a week- it was split 50/50. I don't know what the laws are in Florida, but in California it is a no-fault divorce state, meaning that everything should be split down the middle, money, children, etc. Unless there is evidence indicating one parent may be endangering the children , neither parent is allowed to legally prevent you from seeing your kids. Witnesses or no witnesses. Church $hit doesn't matter . The courts look at it that way. The witnesses might not- but what's legal in the courts is what matters.

Fight for your right to be with your children. My ex-wife ( a fanatic witness) tried preventing my children from seeing me- I took her to mediation in the courts and got it in writing legally that my kids would come see me 3 and a half days each week. Yes, it's rough - but you have to play hardball against the Jehovah's Witnesses, because they won't respect the law, unless you get the courts and law on your side to fight them. Then, you'll be O.K. So- take my advice- if your wife fights you on seeing your children, take her to mediation in the courts- then let THEM decide ! Good luck to you, and welcome to the board ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
