Maybe they will read here and see what goes on in the mind of a 14 year old brainwashed kid.

I don't think there has actually been a victory. As said before, this looks like an editorial. As far as I have read, the Court has reserved its decision, meaning it will take some time until a decision is reached and reported...which is good news, because it gives the judge(s) time to take all aspects into consideration before ruling...

I forgot one other case that this decision will impact.

It is the case in BC about the sextuplets that were given transfusions and some of the lives were spared. The parents and WT are seeking damages in the courts.

It raises the question as to whether (she) is in a position to instruct counsel. Ordinarily, the client instructs the lawyer. But does an adherent instruct a priest?"

So who knows how this unnamed teen really feels about her religion's ban on blood transfusions? Perhaps she's secretly overjoyed that the state stepped in and forced her to get treatment.

This goes right to the heart of the matter, and I'm glad that the parties involved seemed to recognize how much the blood issue is a matter of coercion and misinformation rather than free choice.

I guess I made a mistake, I thought the article was a decision by the Supreme court.

    I mistook the words:

This is about power. This is about who controls (Jehovah's Witness) children," says Juliet Guichon, a lawyer and University of Calgary bioethicist.

Nevertheless, the issue is blowing in the wind, and it will shake up the blood stance of the JWs whatever the decision is when it does come down.

This comparison to " RAPE " has been used as far back as the 70's or 80's by the WTS. Nothing new here, just another typically CANNED remark placed in the mouth of the AHEM, young girl? Now, who do you suppose really was speaking these words? Another anonymous jw child ? Or the WTS legal mouth piece......

If Jehovah's Witnesses won't save their children, the state will have to do it for them.

    I loved this closing statement.

"But maturity alone isn't enough, maintains Guichon. Officials also have to consider the quality of the medical information a young person is receiving as well as whether there has been coercion, she says."

huge implications here. "Tort of Misrepresentation" comes to mind. Also the coercion factor in principle isn't limited to minors.

"She said she hopes the Supreme Court lays down some guidelines about how to manage cases in which patients have poor information and are being coerced."

According to the article there hasn't been a ruling yet. Its just an editorial on what the ruling SHOULD be.

Even so, would you rather be raped, or killed?
