For varying reasons all three of our kids got their drivers license later than what the state allowed. I think the added maturity was good for them. It is scary when they head out for a night of...well the sort of stuff I used to do. Or wanted to do.
On the other hand, the power conferred by holding the car keys can be VERY useful.
