Iam ticked off. During the watchtower lesson about the genration change I feel that it should have been given at least an entire watchtower lesson to cover and not just 1 or 2 paragraphs. We have been taught one way for so long and then all of a sudden its changed but not thoroughly covered. It was so brief that I think it went over a loot of people's heads. I know this is old news to you guys, but a worldly cousin called me about it a little while ago and asked me about it because she is studying and she was surprised to hear about it,( she grew up around the truth but never got serious about it). The society did an injustice as they have in a lot of other areas, the ball was dropped.

Gripe #2: I am a shapely woman. Our loving congreational elders decided to have a marking talk about sisters wearing revealing clothes and how if they wont conform then they can be marked, because we are a modest people. I dont wear tight clothes, but because me figure is shapely (busty, small waist, nice hips, nice but) they must feel my clothes have to hang off me. I knew they were referring to me. I dare them, first of all Iam a single mom, always in service , at meetings, conventions, commenting, etc, etc. why harp on my clothes, as long as Iam not wearing tight, low cut clothes, sheesh.

    Welcome to the forum.

Your post addressed unreasonableness both at the organizational level (sudden shifts in doctrine) and at the congregational level (elders playing dictator).

This is the organization you are in, and it won't change. You surely understand that they do these things to increase control over compliant people. If you don't feel like being compliant any longer, then have you prepared an exit strategy? Do you want your child/children to grow up having to deal with this kind of mind control and exploitation?

Welcome, Ladyecaramel. If you stay on this forum for a while, you'll soon have many more gripes about the WTS to add to your list.

I say that if you have the figure for it, go for the styles you like. I did when I was young, and the elders harassed me about it too (it was the days of the miniskirts). I ignored their style advice, then I ignored their doctrines, and now I ignore them entirely, except for this forum. Good luck to you.

It's time to ask questions? I did and found out that the organization is one big lie. It's a cult that wants to control you in every way. Taking away you're individuality and freedom of thought.

You'll get a lot of support here. You'll need it.

    Welcome to the forum.

Many of us here were greatly disturbed by the generation changes.

I was in the organization for over thirty years.

For sooooo many years, 1914 was stressed and re-stressed. In the inside first page of the Awake magazine it was written that the generation that was alive in 1914 would not pass away before Armageddon came. Then that was changed without fanfare. In 1995, the generation change was that the "contemporaries living at the time of the end were the generation." Now, it seems, the generation is the Annointed.

It is disillusioning to say the least. Why can't they admit they really have no more inside info than anyone else when the end will come?

I didn't have your problem with the clothes. I was so thing for most of my life that clothes automatically hung on me!

I agree with Gophers comment above. Plus it's all about control, control, control.

Hope you enjoy your time here and decide to stay. We look forward to getting to know you.

The generation problem is so they can confuse people. Give them enough information, and they will integrate it with the past and see that the whole thing is a crock. To them, a generation can mean whatever they want it to.

Dress is not really a problem they should be creating. If your figure is sexy, so be it. Realistically, you should be doing all you can to play up your high points and play down the bad things without being blatantly indecent. Anyone that tells you that you have to go out of your way to look unattractive should themselves be "marked" for being a busybody that needs to mind their own business. Now I could see if it was people wearing their pants halfway down or something blatantly indecent--but having a dress a few centimeters too high or what they call too tight is not indecent (in fact, a dress that hangs without revealing anything might actually fall off altogether).

I agree that it is time for a new religion--or at least deep-sixing this one.

"Get out of her, my people, if ..."

Move on to the real truth. Dress and grooming is the least of their problems.
