I was feeding my great cat dry food but now I give it both fncy fest and dry. Any brands of foods or what should I feed it so that he is healthy and lives a good long time? maybe he can make it into the new order.

Much appreciate info and any info about cats so that I can help my cat to be very happy and healthy.

    Thanks.

Don't ask me, lol... I actually cook for my cat and you DONT want to get into that habit... lol

I'm just very attached to her... Had her ever since she was a baby.

Anyways, the link below tells you the best brands on the market. Guess the store bought is "low grade"...

I love kitties - we have an abandoned cat now and he's a great guy! I've had cats before so I understand they can get temperamental. We feed ours IAMs dry, another all natural blend - no preservatives etc dry, and during the day he enjoys a can of fancy feast. Right now he likes the cans with the gourmet greens in them. He's not an overeater so we fill up the self feeder with dry and use an automatic waterer - that lasts him quite a while - then we only have to dish out a bit of moist food for him. I used to cook for my dogs and I don't want to get into that again so I try to discourage him from eating my food lol...enjoy your cat! sammieswife.

    WHEN CHANGING DIETS:

Be sure you don't just abruptly change a cat's diet. Introduce a new brand slowly, mixing in a little of the new with the old at first, and progressing so that after a month you are mixing a little of the old with the new. Abrupt changes in food can kill cats - their digestive systems become acclimated and need to adjust to new diets.

I've always heard that feeding pets people food shortens their life span, I say husband killed the dog..he always fed him table food

he died of cancer. Sh#t that doesn't sound too good for people food does it now? Now our two adopted cats its hard food and some soft food but just a little.

    And no people food...lol

I used some bag food from the vet a special blend something like 50 bucks

a bag and they would not eat it...they seem to like good old friskies.

Fancy Feast is very good for them. I would also give my GREAT CAT, now deceased, 18 years old, a great treat once a week. Take an egg and wisk it up really good and then put it in a bowl of milk. It's great for their coat and digestive tract also. They LOVE it.

I feed my cat the dry crap, usually Meow Mix. As long as the cat eats it, he's fine. Because I feed him the dry crap, he hasn't fallen victim to any of that food that was recalled, which was mostly wet food and "gourmet" cat food.

Is he healthy? Well, he's 14 years old and still doing fairly well for a cat his age. I give him cat treats every once in a while, the occasional half-can of wet food, the occasional chunk of ham, the occasional piece of bacon, and the occasional few drops of milk. I also reward him with treats when he catches a mouse.

The problem with him is when he's really hungry, he'll wolf down his food whole and then barf it all up almost immediately after he eats. Not much I can do about that.

Oh yeah, and don't forget to change his brand and/or flavor of food once in a while. Pets get bored of their food too.
