I think you threw a wrench in their "Shepherding Call" by serving them dinner. Keep the rat poison handy in case it doesn't work next time.

By the way, I want to make an appointment for a shepherding call at your house next week. I like Italian food.

I'm with Hubert. We ExJWs makes shepherding calls too. When can we meet with your husband? He's going to way too many meetings. And dinner is fine. What's for dessert?

This has also been my experience. Most elders really do not want to get into it. A few stories, show some love and out the door. Maybe some "comforting words." But don't make them work.

I had a shepherding call in late December (yes, 5 months ago) where I specifically said I have problems with the doctrines, and I have a hard time going to meetings due to that. I made it rather obvious that I've visited 'apostate' sites.

Since then I've all but stopped going to meetings. It's been 5 months, and they haven't followed up with me at all! They just let me fade away! So either they agree with me, or they just don't feel like hounding me down. Either way I'm happy.

So it IS possible you will just be left alone.

Cognac......It's good to have you back with us. You were missed you know...Now, I must say that I am seeing a NEW side of you!! It's very refreshing to see you relaxed and laid back about everything that's transpired these past few months. GOOD for YOU!!!! You handled last night very well indeed.

I just got back to your update. I was hoping all turned out okay.

It sounds like they never found a smooth opening to pry more into your life.
They promised to be encouraging and did their best to stick to their word.

Whatever you did to keep them from finding an opening, it would be great
if you could keep doing it. But you don't have to keep feeding them.
It is better to meet with such ones (if you must) outside of your own home
so you can leave.

Thanks NMG!!! Yeah, I have calmed down a bit. That really pissed me off finding out it was a cult!

Anyways, I'm happy to be back! I really did need a break, just from even thinking about it.
