Did some JW photog in Bankok just snap the picture? Well, if so - the article should show how the WTBTS lifted her up out of this mess. If they did, for just her, then what about her younger sisters, and all of the other young kids everywhere?

Not sure who picks the stories, but we know from the video they produced that the Governing Body looks at a selection of proposed covers for the issue and personally selects / approves the cover choice. So something about that picture of the young girl forced into prostitution tickled the right triggers for them to pick it. Revolting... Faithful. Discreet. Bah!!
I think the picture could be displayed in a legitimate way if it was being used by someone trying to do something about the problem. But in this case it is just exploitation plain and simple.
PS I find the charities using pictures of horribly disfigured children with cleft palates to be dispicable also.

You don't get it, do you? What if Kelloggs put the picture on a box of corn flakes and implied they cared about her and that somehow their cereal was the answer to the problem? That's exploitation. We all know that when it comes to real, pragmatic help for even their own followers who are physically suffering the WTB&TS is very tight with a nickel. They prefer to offer everybody "pie in the sky in the sweet bye and bye".

The truly perverted part is - they used this picture because they thought it would add a sort of twisted appeal to the magazine - it would be "hard hitting" and "Wake" people up. Then they go on to beat their own religious drum and care not one thing about the girl and others like her in the here and now. Paradise will come soon enough for them.
They have lived so long in their Bethel monestary that they do not realize that this is extremely sickening to most people.

Inside the cover you should see a credit naming the agency or photographer who took the picture.
However I must say that you only need to go into a shop and look at the magazine covers and newspapers to see the deplorable level of taste in the pictures used as grabbers.
In this respect the WT is no worse than anybody else.
I have also seen threads criticizing WT covers for showing happy smiling people, because these are unrealistic.
I felt more pity for the little girl than anything else. I have also seen TV documentaries about the desperate plight of street children in Bombay. Should the images here also not be shown?
lets face it a picture can be very powerful. to bring home the same shock of what children suffer in words would be very difficult, and also open to criticism as "lewd" or "libidinous".
maybe any image or words that shock or disgust us should be banned...

I can't imagine making my daughter doing things like that.Yet these same people will condemn someone if they go to a movie that depicts child prostitute.I must admit such movies should not be made.

What a disgusting, uncaring, heartless comment that was ! IF that little girl is a prostitute, she was made that way by adults, maybe even her parents. That means she is an innocent VICTIM ! IT MEANS THAT SHE IS POSSIBLY RAPED SEVERAL TIMES A DAY !!!!!
In the US and other civilized countries it is the policy of governments and media alike TO PROTECT THE IDENTITY OF CHILD VICTIMS. This little girl has a RIGHT to privacy. How else will she ever have a chance to grow up and away from her victimization ?
The Watchtower constantly brags how their rags are seen by more people in more "lands" than any other publication in history. So, what do they do with that power ? They malign and flash the picture of a child ...a victim of sexual torture...for all the world to see !
I'm agnostic, but an appropriate question that comes to mind is: What would Jesus do ? Is this an example of anything remotely "Christ-like" ?
I'm sure the WT's GB figures if this little unnamed, non-caucasian girl suffers from their publicity -- "the end is so near" -- she'll thank them.
