OUTLAW- I agree that each elder body gave the appearance they were reporting to the " mother " organization , and they would pay homage to the circuit overseer when he visited- but afterwards they'd go back to the same old way they'd handle things when he'd leave ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

OUTLAW- Yeah, it's the appearance that they are paying homage to the GB that counts ! The elders just patronize the GB and powers that be to keep them off their case ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

"Absolute power corrupts." This is the case with the WTB&TS and the elders. When I was going though trials with an abusive jw stepfather and later an abusive jw husband, I got the distinct impression that they just wanted me to go away. Counsel without punishment was given to both abusive jw men, and it was left at that. Years of neglect and abuse were ignored despite my pleas for help, however, it only took the elders a few minutes to decide to disfellowship me.

    Thanks Mr. Flipper.

The experiences I had which started me on the road out of the borg are similar to what happened to Richard Rawe and his wife in the late 60's.

I feel that what happened to me is a story (true) that needs to be told, and I am slowly putting it together.

BTW, your threads and post are always so insightful and interesting. I read them all the time.

    Thanks.

The funny thing, they criticize people for joining "secret societies" where people are treated much better than the witlesses. The one I joined reduced morality to its prime factors and made me see how simple it really is. And its rules are simple: No initiatory force, threat of force, or fraud is to be used against others or their property. If everyone upholds those rules, there is no way it can become a mind control cult.

    Worf,

I will be one of the first ones to buy your book. You know that your ID will be compromised greatly. It will be a real pleasure getting to know you through your experience.

I think the reasoned that I was abandoned out of the cong. was because they didn't want an ASL group established. The elders fought me and my interpreter on everything we tried to do to help me and other deaf to get the most out of the meetings, which other congregations in other parts of the country were already doing. They tried putting me in a back room, which I flatly refused and kindly but firmly explained why it was the same as blacks being forced to sit at the back of the bus. I gave up when the PO said in caps on my text msg. that they were not now nor ever planning on establishing a group there. Bastards! Oh, how welcomed I felt. I wasn't there long, either. Each meeting would have been 140 miles round trip to a cong. with a group. A sister said, "Well, you have to." I was thinking, "(beep beep beep beep)." Oh, I got beeped. Silly me. Vulgarity can't be put on this site.

Anyway, not one of them ever visited me after I disappeared. No one but one sister, my interpreter, came to invite me to meetings. I thought it was very telling when the leaders fought me right out and never sought me out for encouragement. So, I let them go. By their fruits, you know.

WT Wizard: Right on point. .

White Dove: Yes. They will know who I am at that point if they don't already know. But thats okay. Wow! How could those so-called elders have been so cruel in your situation? I would have been just as pissed off as you were. All of us have so many amazing stories of our experiences in the borg.

JAMIE BOWERS- I'm sorry you were abused by your stepfather and JW husband. It is so true that many like you in the witnesses have had abusers of them let off the hook like you experienced. It's disgusting. Yes- It's like you say the elders will DF you in 30 seconds or less for less serious offenses than spousal abuse ! It is truly crazy.

WORF- I hope your book and experiences will help people to exit the Jehovah's Witness cult just as much as Ray Franz helped people to see the real " truth" about the Watchtower society in his book , "Crisis of Conscience " ! I for one certainly look forward to reading your book. Thanks for the kind words about my threads ! Peace.

WT WIZARD- I agree with you - real " secret societies " have more morals than Jehovah's Witnesses.

WHITE DOVE- It is absolutely appalling how disgustingly twisted the elders treated you and how they hindered you from really helping the deaf and hard of hearing ! As many times as I read of unjust treatment by the elders like yours - I really shouldn't be surprised - but I still get shocked at how outrageous the elders behavior is ! You are right - we know their fruits ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Over the years this seemed to become more and more apparent. Elders preach from the platform to approach them, but as time went on more members seemd to shy away from the elders because they just screw things up more. I found througb experience they just love to tell you "here's what you should do!" rather than trying to find out the root cause of the situation. The "here's what you should do!" scenario has proven

disastrous for some who followed through with advice or so called "counsel". You cannot put a quick fix for people. I always wondered why they just love to tell members "here's what you should do!" when in acutality the opposite should be true. If you tell people "here's what you should do!" and they "do it" for what reason are they doing it? Dangerous thinking!! Whoever gets this type of counsel does not "own it" they do it saying to themselves "well, the elders said!" like it came from Jehovah himself!! The one statement that scared me the most was "If you go against an elder, it's like going against Jehovah". I truly believe for a number of elders when they believe this statement they put themselves on the same playing field with God giving them a God-like complex and it shows for some. I have seen that humility was replaced with haughtiness. To hear from a few that had actually said "I'm an elder! and you can't talk that way to an elder!" was a bsolutely crazy. They can talk to you anyway they want, but you can't!!?? Whatever happened to "treat the congregation with tenderness"?
