What got my wife thinking was the history of the organization, specifically Russel and Rutherford. She read the non-'apostate' site Wikipedia, and learned that the history is not as happy and clean as the org says it is. First, Russel way a Pyramidologist, and based many of his ideas off that. Then when Rutherford took over, he change a LOT of Russel's ideas, causing mass exodus. Rutherford lived a rich life as an evangelist. Here are the links:

THIS is what started to get my wife thinking and want out.
Funnily enough I was just trying to order Steve Hassan's second book this week but Amazon don't have it at the moment. I read the first one. Fantastic!
To tell the truth, I didn't like the second book nearly as much. It is pieced together from
stuff in Hassan's notes and whatnot. BUT, the second book really describes the slow
method of freeing the mind that JW's would need. It's not a great read, but it's the
preferred method to get them out.
I need to reread that by the end of the year.
There's been a few cases where a partner says 'I'm through with that - never going back' and the other partner says 'ok me too then - never liked it anyway'
Risky though.
The issue of the Society teaching Jesus is not our mediator when scripture blatantly teaches he is got me thinking and researching on the web. Just a suggestion.
The only way to get someone who doesn’t think out is to make them feel. It’s worked for me in the past. The person I refer to was a die hard. Only ever thought along the lines they were taught to by the society. I found their weak spot and used it now and then to good effect. Their particular problem was the paedophile problem. Hit them hard out of the blue every now and then which changed their mind pattern.
Took quite a few attempts but it was very effective. Once I had that as a ‘yard stick’ the rest was relatively easy. Used some very graphic language for good shock tactics. Not any swear words. Just very explicit detail of what a paedophile does to children, then asked if Jehovah could really be blessing the organisation.
Pick him up like the rock he is and throw him.
Or if he's to heavy get a wheelbarrel and haul him away.
