My 70 year old gramma had a rotweiler that she loved very much. Such a sweet dog! I want one.

JK....a Mastiff? How much do those weigh? And what kind of walking do they need? I clean up after 2 Dobes, one 110 pounds and the other 100 pounds.....I can't imagine!

I agree that Labs are the best as they are extremely loyal, gentle, loving but they are also very protective of their owner and family. I have one. In my opinion yellow labs are the best as they are strong and are used as Service dogs for the blind, etc.

What about a Greyhound? My friend had one and she was very pleasant. She was huge and affectionate.

White Dove:
My neighbor across the street has always had female Rotties, she is a vet tech and swears by them. The only problem is in the last 20 years she has gone through 3 due to bad hip problems and had to have each put down. She finally gave up, couldn't handle the grief of losing another.
When my Dobe boys go, It's going to be like losing a member of the family.....I dread the day.

My two cats died. I can relate to the grief for pets. I grieved for a long time both times.

How about a miniature Dobie? Short hair, great companion and watch dog and eeasier to manage than a full sized one.

When my stepmom's home was broken into several years ago, the investigating police officer told her that a female German Shepherd is the best watchdog to have. My in laws had a German Shepherd mix who was smart enough to insistantly drag my f-i-l out of his room into the living room where my m-i-l had collapsed from a stroke. They are loyal and smart.

How about a Corgi or a Maltese, they can be yappy but also easy to look after and make good lap dogs.
