Your kids are doomed.

They probably talk about the signs of the end instead of quoting scripture. "We're too deep in the time of the end to waste time even at a four year college" will be their rant.

Thats the song and dance they pulled when in Sams family and as a result - they shunned any extracuricular activity, dating and any idea of going past high school. Fast forward - a whole family of smart kids that are now adults with no education and limited skills. A whole family who were supposed to see the end of 'this system of things' before they turned 25..before they turned 26...before they turned 30...before they turned 35...putting their lives on hold because in 6 months it will all be over..clinging to that promise for the next 6 months...and then the next 6 months.....anyone that chooses that life for their children should really examine the source of the promise, the history of the promise and the outcome of blind belief in that promise. They should talk to the 85 year old sister living sick and alone in a 10 foot trailer who gave up having kids or a job..who gave up her entire 'worldly' family..who now has nobody and nothing - and who doesn't even believe that the WT has 'the truth' any longer. That might be their childs future. sammieswife.

I haven't posted on this forum in ages. I periodically check it out to see what's new. I have to comment on this post as it shows the paranoid insanity of the WTS. Close to 20 years ago I graduated HS. I graduated with Honors and I enjoyed the learing environment. I was also very much a believer in what the Society taught. However, I wanted to go to Community College for some Accounting classes. Two year course and I started it in September and was forced to quit in December. Here's how it went...

I was a good dyed in the wool JW. I would often give parts on Assemblies and was held as an example to others. My Dad was the Cong. Secretary and worked his butt off in a factory. I was approached by the Circuit Overseer (His name was Clive. Good looking dude that dressed well. Believe he is at Bethel now). I was to give my experience at the Assembly regarding preaching to my fellow classmates at school. I was to give my experience twice at two different assemblies on consecutive weekends. Well I gave me experience and ended it with saying that I would continue witnessing to my fellow classmates in Community College. Well.. The stuff hit the fan. At lunch the District Overseer wanted to talk to me. The Circuit Overseer was in the room as well. He verbally chewed us both out and said I was not allowed to give my experience at the next assembly. The Circuit Overseer left and I was talked down to by the DO for a good 15 minutes about how I was not a good example because I was not pioneering right after HS. The look of distaste on his face remains vivid in my mind even to this day. I will say the Circuit Overseer apologized to me for the experience but he had no choice and I was yanked from the next assembly. After this all happend I faced incredible pressure from my family, the elder body and others in the hall to quit school. I couldn't take it anymore and I did quit. Went Reg. Pioneering for a year and moved the hell away from there a year later. Now I will be going back to school years later.Jobs are harder to find and you have to have a piece of paper that says you have some type of Secondary training even if you can do the job with your eyes closed. My parents apologized to me years later but the damage has been done. I will never be a member of any religion while I still draw breath

    Regards

I am speechless, Sammieswife... like YNot, too angry to even say much.

Wolfy... your experience is STUNNING! Thank you for taking the time to post it here. It needed to be said.

Let us hope that this will continue the unraveling of the organization.

    Love,
    Baba.

Actually, Lady Zombie, you are not far off. You can be DF'd for apostasy as well as "loose conduct". Now, according to the elder's handbook and letters, "loose conduct" can be as slight as "disrespect to an elder". And they've said many times that apostasy does NOT require that you advocate a viewpoint opposite the WTS. All you have to do is "refuse to agree fully" with EVERY aspect of any and all of their beliefs.

So now, just like the Christians and lions (where the victim had to just say some words to show he had the right attitude toward the emperor) all they have to do is ask you to affirm that you believe in this, then that, then this, etc. until your conscience makes you say, "I'm not quite sure about this one little point, I'm studying it now." Then they've got you.

Elders, on the whole, are guilty of emotional abuse. Their conduct borders on child abuse. (I don't mean actual sexual abuse.) Treating anyone under the age of 18 in a way that is detrimental to their mental health can bring charges in some states. Here in Florida they are very strict. Some towns in the US hassle or refuse to allow JW's to go door to door because they won't tell them who the pedophiles are. I'm going to visit the local police and sheriff and tell them about this. I'm also going to Family and Child Services to complain about how JW's treat their children (no after school, believing others will die and threatening them with this, and many other things).

I'm sure some attention will be brought to this subject. Messing with children's heads is not allowed here. Say goodbye, WTS. You're done. Pick out a coffin so we can get this over with. If you don't, we'll choose one for you.

Go Forth With Freedom! Do not stay as a slave! My daughter just turned 34 years old today and she is a 4.0 college student -- will receive her R.N. next year. Don't let anyone keep you from getting an education. In today's economic condition, everyone MUST continue on in their education. Even if it is "late" in life. We are happy we broke free! Community college is a great start.

By the way, we have learned that "home schooling" is sub-standard. It also does not equip our children with the social skills and the education to survive and prosper in our modern world.
