My wife went Witnessing and happen to go with the C.O's wife and she mentions she has been reading Lord of the Rings {Wife-Not in the truth that long} she comes home and tells me how they were "not impressed." {Oh no!} The C.O came to visit since I had missed the Servants meeting due to work. The Elders thought we needed encouragement. He actually snooped around our library checking each book???!! The book was under the bed...sssshhh! Not to involve his wife he later said nothing...also since I resigned as a Servant he was distracted.

An Elder giving a talk about "Children" wanted to prove a point so he asked : {Sarcastic voice} "Now, how many of our children would have watched the Harry Potter movie?" 18 kids put their hand up. And this is what their parents looked like I had to laugh...the Elder lost his point and stammered and tried to ignore them. He had no kids and thought the answer was zero...or he just asked a hyperthetical question.

Later a Servant and his pioneer wife explained that their kids had gone to see it with the school, not their fault I still think it's funny.

We have seen Harry Potter movies and loved them, how the WTS sees them as a threat baffles me. They are great films and pure emtertainment

    Regards David

Glad so many of the kids had seen the film btw

I think they need a special talk about the difference between fiction and non fiction, for the elders not the kids, they are usually bright enough to know the difference.

forgot, if they can stop the kids from standing for the flag they sure as heck could have stopped them from a field trip to see Harry Potter.

I wonder how Witnesses justify the difference between Harry Potter and Star Wars?

They went through your library?? Kind of like the Nazi's or the Inquisition? I would have kicked them out.

I know an elder's wife, missionary's daughter who reads all of the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter books. But she won't talk to my DA'd sister, her former roommate, whom she traveled to stay with when my sister's husband died.

The jws are hypocrites. Do not read harry potter, but you can watch cinderella, snow white, wizard of oz, and the list goes on. My elder friends daughter has them all and loves them all. All the old fairy tells are full of fantasy, magic, etc. It all comes down to one person trying to tell another person what they should or not do. The jws do what they want and then tell others what they should want. When anyone starts to give me advice I ask them what makes them an authority on the subject. It always turns out to just be their opinion. If that does not work I tell them that when they are fininished advising me , that I would like to return the favor and give them some advice. That will end the conversation.

Not all jws are hypocrites. My dad didn't allow us to watch any of those movies as children.
