    w007:

He actually snooped around our library checking each book???!!

a JW elder friend (probably soon to be former friend) of mine comes by my house from time to time...uninvited each time... I let him in and the first thing he sees of course is my book shelves in the living room...and the huge gap in the shelves that is the result of shipping half of them to my fellow JWD apostafriends here and the other half to a JW friend.... he asked what happened to them...my reply: "I have a WT library CD, what do I need all of those books for...?" He then asked: "where did they go?" I told him half went to a mutual friend (he was ok with that) and half were shipped across the country to JWs (ok, I lied on that one....I am pretty certain none of you are active dubs...lol) who responded to an online ad I had posted... he tried to question me on that, but I changed the subject....

Someone mentioned Star Wars vs Harry Potter.... I was a huge SW fan in my youth.... I had a couple people question me on it (esp since I was so engrossed obsessed that it probably bordered on idolatry in their eyes...lol) How can one not say "The Force" isnt some kind of demonic thing or some form of spiritism...that was what was told to me... I kept all my SW stuff... I think I still have some boxed away somewhere in storage....

Nosy people need to have their noses punched.

I met an {anti-spiritism} Elders family in the cinema during.....StarWars episode 1.....he said his family just dragged him along....so there's your next excuse, I commited fornication but she dragged me along.

Later a Servant and his pioneer wife explained that their kids had gone to see it with the school, not their fault

I'm sure they prayed about it as a family and begged for forgiveness.

When I was in "the troof" my friends and I spoke in "code" about movies like the Lord of the Rings. We simply said "LOTR" and continued the coversation. We knew that some had a hissy fit about the movie so we kept it in code but still talked about it openly.

The Society tries to rob people of all individual choice and the forced uniformity (conformity) makes people suspicious of each other. How happy can one be when you have to hide who you are all of the time ? If some junior gestapo would have come over and started snooping through by bookshelf,or other stuff, they would have needed the services of a proctologist !

Lol......its funny....welcome to the wonderful world of nosey ass elders & kids.....been through that lots,

got worse as they got older...always looking for something. Brother in law actually had the elders look through his daughters

bedroom condemning posters right after going through all their Vhs tapes. I would have kicked them out of my house and told

them not to come back....But then again we were a little rebellious....

We didn't take crap all...with there personal opinions.....

There are so many things in the previous posts that I could comment on but they all boil down to this:

    Thank God I'm Out!

fucking spies. I love the HP books and movies. As another poster said, the elders need to learn the difference between fiction and non-fiction. Also they have very selective standards. Logic doesn't come into it at all. It's more about finding fault than anything else. They like to put you in the wrong. I love the story about the 18 kids who saw the HP movies. Funny

we had the "privilege" of book study for over a decade,
and had at least 4 conductors in that time....

one little cock of the walk actually scolded us
(me, actually.. i doubt he had the stones to talk
to my husbandly head ) for having a chess board
as it "glorified war"... he nearly stroked when he
    "discovered" our STRATEGO game....
since i homeschooled our kids for 8 years,
i taught them all how to play chess, cribbage
AND poker for the strategy and critical thinking!

    the hypocrisy is so rampant...
the PO openly condemned "star wars"....
working in comments during talks or answers
but was a known devotee of star trek movies....
( maybe it was the other way around, but ya get the point)

Is SHREK considered "bad association" or "spiritism" by the Faithful Slave?

I got all 3 of them and really hope they can remain in my video library.

How about NATIONAL TREASURE or NEXT?

Nicholas Cage is one of my favorite actors and I hope he doesn't have to go.

Doesn't it warm your hearts that the Faithful Slave is looking out for our best interests even if I have to give up a few worldly DVD's.

I decided to read the first Harry Potter book before the first movie came out so I could see what all the debate was about and see the movie without it spoiling the book for me. After reading the first book I was hooked and quickly made it through the rest that were out at the time.

When my dad found out I was reading Harry Potter, mind you I'm a 30 year old adult who has supported herself for 12 years at this point in my life, he has a conniption fit telling me how they're demonic, etc. etc. I asked him if he had actually read the book or if that's just what someone had told him because having read all the books I could assure him they were not about demonism. His reply was that of course they were demonic, they were about witches and wizards. I love my brother, in the most calm voice he looks at my dad and asks him how, then, Harry Potter would be any different from the Wizard of Oz (which we, as a family, made an event out of watching each year). My dad promptly turned around and went back to his task completely ignoring the question. He's never given me trouble about reading Harry Potter since. lol I love it when my dad and my brother go head to head. lol
